Your volt meter was reading 14.7 volts off your batteries?
Good you got it fixed, thanks for the update.

I really don't have a response here. Alternator should be less than 200.00 any where you look. With pulley change usually 350.00. Course I would do the 200.00 self install.
Batteries need to be properly charged to load test. They also need to be properly charged to see how many amps the starter is drawing. Different CCA batteries are not ideal for sure, but not that big a deal in the cause or concern. It amazes me at the parts changers that can't do the simplest ####.

I'm referring to the road service he used not those trying to help here.

I bought one at the International dealer in Russellville Ar this fall and put it on in the pilot parking lot. Less than 200.

It was 2 or 3 years ago I bought one at a Sapp Bros just across Iowa line for one of the other trucks it was like 230.00 with paying their guy to swap the pulley.

    SAR and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

Its back to normal. Got a new style Delco compact alternator, new gear reduction starter, and new 925amp batteries.

    SAR Thanks this.

Not sure how expensive the bill was. It was all roadside mobile repair truck work. Much was after hours. Ouch!
