Which equals a handout in my book.........

FUel prices are not going to go back down, we as a COUNTRY have to adjust to our cost of living/ cost of operating a business!

Average every day working people need to ask for raises

Truck Drivers need to charge more to haul the freight

Old people on fixed income need to figure out something with their state, and maybe they shouldn't have worried about a Social Security retirement and saved for crap like this

    etc.

    etc.
    etc.

This is really funny.A lot of you don't like organize labor and here you are trying to unite all truckers, this sounds a lot like you want to unionize, and what were unions all about any way, workers banding together

So I do not think this plan will work and you are wasting your time .

I think that if you call your congressmen and senator many times , maybe a few thousand times they might get the message

The surcharge would be correct with what you quoted if your mpg was 4.4! At 6mpg, surcharge would be $.46. If you are only getting 4.4mpg, you need to junk that rig.

You want something to really focus on that may get the attention you are seeking? Focus on the term fuel surcharge.

The STB (Surface Transportation Board) defines a fuel surcharge:
A fuel surcharge is a separately identified component of the total rate that is charged for the transportation involved, purportedly to recoup increases in the carrier’s fuel costs.

If you think that shippers are not sensitive to FSCs being added to their freight bills, think again. If a shipper is paying an FSC, ALL of those charges should be going to the owner of the truck who is consuming the fuel.

You want to get focus on a subject that may get some intense attention, this would be the trigger point. If a lease carrier or a broker is charging a shipper an FSC and is not passing the full value of that surcharge on to the consumer of the fuel, well, that is just wrong, and may be illegal (unethical for certain). Talk to your shippers, challenge your brokers, make a stink about it. You just might pick up some decent customers.

A lease carrier or broker should be keeping absolutely ZERO FSC! If you think their is thievery going on, then bring it to the attention of your representatives and get some focus on the problem. At minimum, the term should be changed so that shippers and owner/operators know they are not getting screwed.

EXACTLY!!!!!! This is what you need to push the goverment to do, no matter what you all deside to do! Thats what I have been saying. You can't just hold the economics of the country at hostage, and then not have any altematims. You must tell them how to fix the problem within their means. They dont have the power to lower the costs no matter what conspericy you believe there is. They can't cap the fuel price without screwing availabilty. We played that game before and lost. Make it illigial for the surcharge in full not to make it to the truck!? Now that sounds like legistlation, and thats what we hired them to do!
