I remember one time making noise about short miles. I had savings in place for a while but it was not good long ago. The company wasted about a hour wagged the head and let me out with a nice run. Oh good. (Yea right.) then I find myself loading excellent miles loads, One in particular I remember, apples from MO to Cali around 1600 miles in 4 days. That one was not for me, I was loading all day so that the favored groomed palomino does not have to sit in no docks for 12 hours loading this stuff.
I made some noise then, they just laughed. It's pretty clear at that point I will be looking for another employer. And within two weeks I was on my way. They asked why? Why ask why. Something happened and I was given rope to hang on. I tied em up instead. Someone else can take the abuse.

I keep track of the details of all of my loads and also my earnings each week from settlement statements (before taxes and not including bonuses). 7 months in I know what I gross average a week so I don't even worry about that week's paycheck. (I always check to see that I'm paid for each load however).
I waited tables for 3 years and kept records and averaged being tipped 15% so it didn't matter if I got bad tips on a particular day. It all averages out. Knowledge is power.brian991219 Thanks this. -
Per mile is not the way to run short miles on dedicated routes.
The company knows this, but its better for their bottom line. He should be hourly. -
