your talking about peltier cooling. its the most INefficient form of cooling out there. They take an enormous amount of energy to produce a little bit of cooling. They make a TON of heat that needs to be dissipated for the little amount of cooling they provide. They make better heaters then coolers.

so I guess we're not going to do that

peltiers work decent for fridges because small space to be cooled and basically endless 12v power. the peltiers in the fridges are about 1 1/4" square and I believe they are considered 100watt peltiers. they go for approx $15 on ebay. so they arent cheap. For cooling something like inside of a sleeper id think youd need at minimum of 1000 watts to do any sort of cooling. However at that much wattage your looking at quite a few amps (at min 8 awg supply cable) and well over $300 in peltiers AND you are going to have to run some sort of water cooling and pump to keep the hot side cool enough for it to chill the other side efficently.

How about just hook the 12v comp to the bunk a/c and use a passive heat sink condensor??? is there any way to valve the system to be able to run either compressor / condensor at will???

thought i would tell you all about my sytem.
carrier rv heat and ac roof unit.
generac rv generator, gas model
battery charger in side box
13 gallon marine gas tank
"drop cord" jumper to block heater
total cost around $3000.
will run all week ,while trucking, on a tank of gas
this system has helped me out a bunch
my alt. died and i ran the genset with the battery charger going to get me 200 miles to a dealer that had my alt. , vs paying some astro fee at a truck stop. last summer the high pressure hose blew off the back off the a/c compressor. 90 + degrees out. ran the genset till i could locate a dealer along my way that had a hose. no down time , no cussing, no sweat. johnny -
This is exactly where I want to go ... thanks for the confirmation. I may buy the generator this week and use a small electric space heater (illegal) to get me thru the winter. Then in late spring, get the roof ac/heat unit. The only thing I might look into is the Propane/gas Honda units. I know you can carry a 25 lb. propane bottle. Just not sure how economical that would be vs. gas. Obviously, the diesel units would be the most convenient. Does the generac have the inverter built in ??

It would seem like the same thing to have a RV, or small bus a/c system run buy a diesel genorator. -
this is the one i run
