Youre in luck! CTL Transportation needs drivers and will pay for your school. Once you complete cdl school you will then attend tanker school in Tampa. Probably make 60K easy your first year.

It sounds as though you read some of the same negative reports I did. There were some schools that gave me concern over lack of accreditation, but that one had a lot of negative comments about money issues and I won't take a chance with them because of that. I know I have read of some carriers that will pretty much take you into their in house CDL program regardless of where you live, so keep digging and you'll find something. There is a list of carriers in this site http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...motor-carrier-questions-the-inside-scoop.144/
and you can do some research and just start applying to any that interest you. -
About Chinatown's post- What? How do you know this? This sounds too good to be true! I'm looking up their website right now though!

That's a nice list- I didn't realize there were so many. So basically you go and get your CDL at their facility and train there also, and your home state doesn't matter? No names left Thanks this.

For some it won't matter, but not for all. As an example, Roehl has a way to search for jobs using your zip code. My zip turns up a few job listings but when I fill out the online application and submit it, it says I am out of their hiring area.
There are enough names on that list to turn up something, but due diligence is necessary. -
I see where CTL is probably hiring in this area- that sounds like a good option. Is the normal procedure to fill out these online applications before you enter school, or wait til you're in school, or how does it work normally.

Submit job applications during the first week of school.
In the case of CTL Transportation, contact them first before enrolling in any school because they may suggest a school that they will pay for.tommymonza Thanks this. -
I didn't realize there was so much research involved in picking these companies and schools- thank you for sending me down a good path here.

Some guy from your area went with Western Express flatbed division. They have flatbed or dry van; best money is flatbed. Western Express sends you to school in Nashville,TN plus pays your way there and provides hotel room and 3 meals per day while attending their cdl school.
If you decide to pay for school yourself, still go with CTL Transportation or Abilene Motor Express.
Abilene hires lots of Florida drivers. Good company and trucks have Apu. -
Yeah, there is a community college on US Highway 19 in St.Pete that has a truck driving program. I saw their rigs parked in the lot when I passed by there a few times.tommymonza Thanks this.
