Then I would guess they are near $7k or $8k now. I don't mind paying a reasonable sum, but how much better is a $10,000 than the $3,900 Swift Academy? I also have a number for Prime at $3,500 but I'm not sure where I got that.
Indentured Servitude or $6,000?

I paid for mine because I was young and didn't know any better at the time. As bad as my first year was, it would have been better going to company paid training. Although companies do reimburse tuition costs if the school meets their criteria. Something else to think about

Of course I still left my first company way before I got my schooling fully reimbursed. I had a problem taking advice and listening lol

Henderson is 4600 and includes lodging with a private room with kitchenette and a 100 a week towards food for the 4 weeks it takes for you to obtain your cdl.
After that it is 6 to 8 weeks on the road training at 500 a week.
Once you are assigned your truck they take 75 a week out of your check . At 6 months service they contribute 1000 towards your school debt with another 1000 at 12 months service.speedyk Thanks this. -

Find a school that doesn't push you through the weeks along with many other students. If there are 20+ drivers that don't know how to do anything and you are all going to be roomed together so that you guys can wake up together, start at sunrise and prqctice til sundown, then you're going to be going at the pace of whomever is the slowest learner. How much behind the wheel time will you get in those four weeks? How many trucks do they have to train with? Is it 1 truck per class or 4 trucks for 20+ students? When I went to a new CDL school I got a low price and it was 3 trucks for 11 people. I was behind the wheel for 2-3 hours every other day until I took my jeep and slept there so that I could practice more because the instructors wanted me out of the school and just go pass my tests, but I didn't feel confident enough to be passed so I payed the guy 200 more to let me practice two more weeks. Total was 1400. I passed the tests by reading the DMV book. The air break tests I passed with schools help. Pretrip is easy.

But your comment is exactly what I am looking for; 'if you had to do it all over again, which route would you take'. Like I said, going through a company sponsored program is a draw because I would have a job lined up, but since Schneider is my top pick and they don't have a school, I have to find another way to kick in that door. -

What is the attraction to Schneider ?
