It is not indentured servitude! You can leave any time you wish.. you just get to pay for your training yourself.. A: Learn how to drive. B: Chose a company and go to work. It amazes me how many insta-victims are in the industry.

Pay sucks till the contract is over. Can you and your family survive financially till your a free man ?
-
Working for the company that paid for your training is a way of paying back a debt. And yes, it is a debt.
A long time ago apprentices worked hard and had long hours working under a master. It was how they learned a trade or skill.
If you don't want to be indentured to a company then pay for your own training. There are a lot of driving schools out there, you are free to give them your credit card.
Good luck.TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Relax, I was just using a title to draw people. I understand that with anything in life you gotta show up and work hard. Just wanted to throw out the question and see if any specific companies continued to come up as a problem company. Maybe it was in poor taste. Reply to FozzyNOK

What companies are on the top of your list ?
-
You will still need experience, most smaller guys won't take you on without it. Just do you time with the Mega unless you know somebody in a smaller company. Don't waste your money on a trucking school. Scheinder has a good program. Swift has a pretty decent one. Just remember when you are doing your time that you are totally under their control until you get your two years in. I really don't understand what the big deal about that is, get free training, get a check, learn the basics of the industry for two years, and then move on.
All of you noobs expect to work for a company like mine, but you don't have enough experience to do so. Do you think when I was a private in the Army that I knew more then the Sgt. I may have thought I did, but I did not. It was not until I had been in the Army at least a couple of years that I really began to understand that.
Just do your time, keep your CDL/CSA clean and then after two years you will be very well rewarded for sticking it out. -
What makes Powerhouse Transport so great ?
-
Nothing, except that it is mine. That's what makes it great, I don't know what else to say except my guys only run about 1800 miles per week, make between $1000 - $2000 for doing so. Usually are by their homes once or twice a week if they want. If they decide to stay out for two weeks at a time, they take 4-5 days off when the get home.
I guess you will have to ask one of them when or if you see them. I only have three trucks running now. May fire up some more if I find some more of the right minded individuals.
But as far as for me, my original answer stands pat. -
What makes US Express so great for you?
I like working with US Express, they pay us very well to haul their freight. They always pay us within two days of delivery. So this is not me trolling, I was just curious on your behalf?
