Well then SamTheMan you are one of far and few between that freight comes knocking on your door , but there are new carriers and drivers everyday that need the help they can get , it was just an opinion that maybe independent dispatching services could be on the side of the trucker and be an ally in their corner , unlike most shippers and brokers that only care about the bottom line . I wish you continued success . Thanks for the opinion .. Have a great Day !![]()

Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds
Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

Where and how do you get loads?

Sam is spot on. Any operator unwilling to take on the tasks of building relationships making their own way, depending on someone else for a rate, that is someone not up to the task. Driving is such a small part of the business it's like the bonus you look forward to. If a person just wants to drive and leave the business to others that's no way to learn or grow a business and there are company jobs that will remove a lot of headaches for someone who just wants to drive.
Sent from my droid using Tapatalk 2PSUMoose Thanks this. -
The biggest problem is the dispatch service doesn't have nearly the over head that we do so they will book anything and hope you take it. I have tried a dispatch service and found they either get too busy for you or they get lazy! Right now I just want to find someone who knows how to use a fax machine and email to deal with rate confirmations without spending a bundle...cheapest I found was like 200 bucks a week for less than 5 hours of work.

AMEN!!! Usually a husband and wife will do well together...This is still too much for one person. This is the difference between a lease operator and an owner operator.

You had to start somewhere....

Directly from shippers... and sorry if anyone thinks that you are going to build a relationship with a shipper overnight and get their good freight they are sorely mistaken. I would think that anyone who decided to do business with an independent service would do their homework , ask for references, try them out don't just hand over your hard earned money to anyone , make sure they know their business , why would you trust anyone who didn't know what they were talking about? Think about it O/O and small fleets get most of their loads from a broker , who from the get go take anywhere from 10-25 % off the top , now you deal with someone that can cut out the middle man charge a minimal fee , more money in your pocket ...sounds like a win win situation to me ...not everyone out here is out to take the trucker for a ride , there are people who care and understand the sacrifices these guys make day in and day out.

True there may be company jobs that will take that headache away , but you are paying for it one way or another and usually a lot more than what you think .

Thanks for the chuckle!!!
