Indian police

You just haven't spent enough time on reserves.

Actually, not too many out here; one in BC (between Lillooet and Mt Currie) and three in AB; Blood (south of Fort MacLeod), Tsuut’ina (west side of Calgary) and Lakeshore (around Slave Lake). There are a bunch in ON and QC. They're all administered under provincial regulations.

The ones you have to worry about are the railway police. They are administered under federal regulations and have full police powers. Their normal jurisdiction is within 500 metres of property that the railway company owns, possesses or administers... so that's a LOT of land. They like to set up near rail crossings and catch speeders... because there's nothing better to do.

 

Probably for good reason too.

 

You can describe somebody by their race if it's not pejorative.
Most of the time there's no real need to describe a person's race as it applies to their position or their actions. An innocent insult is usually the product of ignorance but it's still an insult.
And for what it's worth, I'm half Native American, one quarter African American, and one quarter Irish American. If I wanted to play the race card I could play the whole deck. I'm also a member of our tribal police agency and have been for over twenty years. I've heard it all before.

 

Sounded to me like he was describing the vehicle and therefore the agency that would be issuing the citation to the unsuspecting speeder. No different than saying county mountie in my opinion. You can attribute bad intent all you want but I believe in this instance the witch hunt is un founded.

 

The point was he pointed out specifically the cops race...
Race dont matter cause a cop is a cop..Sooo why did he have to point out the cops race..Does that mean he or she gets more or less respect cause of their race??
It was a typically super trucker attitude from days gone by..
A ticket from a bald white cop or a tanned chinese or a pale white irishman is still a ticket,dont matter where or who it comes from..
A county mountie or evil knivel or even a dot cop doesnt define a persons race but they are cops...None of them define race so why does the cop have to be called a bear with feathers....

 

Nooo. He stated the type of police. Not race. Indian police is the same as saying Orlando police or Orange county sherrif.

Just because you want to make it about race. Doesn't make it about race.

 

If I came across wrong with the comment I apologize. I just meant it as can we no longer use race describe a person? I totally agree with not using prejorative terms. I don't use the term "Indian" unless I'm actually refering to Indians from India.

 

In this particular instance, there was no reason to refer to the officer's race to describe his presence. Therefore, it was clearly a racist remark. Those of you who justify it are promoting racism however subtly and stand against the great majority in this country who believe that ANY racism, however subtle, is destructive and mean to many. Its particularly devious when, as it was here, comes cloaked as a "joke" which is rationalized as "ok for anyone who isn't a prude". Those folks are not only ignorant and mean, they are dishonest with themselves in disguising hatred of another's nationality.
Now to those of you who would call me a "leftie" or a "snowflake" ... Im a Marine veteran who taught martial arts for 25 years and works as a fuel truck driver on firefighting operations at our nations forest fires. So to you I'd say, "Go f yourself !"

 

Yeah, they wear a full police uniform with decked out police car. The only thing different is some of em' got a long ponytail.

 

Everbody is way to sensitive these days. I used to haing out on the rez a little bit back in the 80's and I was called white boy by alot of the Indians. It went like this: "Hey white boy, what are you doing out here on the rez". Me: Who me?? Lol
