In your infinite wisdom did you ever think IRT gets good rates they just don't want to pay a driver anymore than 37cpm they really don't have to if they can get drivers to work for that. Food grade rates aren't what they used to be but I guaranty they are better than you think they are. It's kinda like why buy the cow when the milk is given freely.

Family style atmosphere Jabber as in when you call in they know who you are by the sound of your voice, ask about your wife, kids, keep track of when your birthday is and give you a gift card to Chili's on it, etc.. Etc.. That's what I mean by family company. Not calling in and being asked your truck number by people you've never met in person who don't know anything about you or care about your wife's health or your kids well being.

I don't miss the days of having to worry about shower credits. I shower at home every day for free now regardless of how much fuel I got on my dedicated route earlier that day. I smoke too, so having a 2014 Cascadia that someone else smoked in during the previous 97,000 miles doesn't bother me. A new truck would be more important if I were living in it for a month and a half at a time, but when I'm only in it 12-14 hours a day it's not a deal breaker. I can also live on the $2100 that I gross every 2 weeks. Especially since my food bill is cheaper packing my lunch and eating supper at home.

If you have a woman who willingly cooks regularly, you better keep her around forever. They're a rare find these days

Well, I don't want to mar this irt thread up with talk of Bynum. I just happen to keep an eye on this thread. I talk to more irt drivers at shippers/receivers than drivers from my own company.

Bynum has been good to me thus far, I just wish their payscale was more competitive.

if they paid detention then they'll have to ask for a rate increase. if they ask for a rate increase then 1 of 2 things happen 1) they pass the rate increase to their customers, which pisses off the customers. 2) they go somewhere else. Freight is and always will be a "race to the bottom"

IRT is only in business for themselves. their job is to make money. before you scream "they are greedy" ask yourself, will you be willing to take a pay cut? if the answer is no then you have no right to call anyone else greedy. I'm greedy and I'll admit it
