‘I haven’t done one, but I was at Chino tank wash once with a guy who was doing them. He said he liked it. I think he said it was San Diego to LA, but I’m not 100% sure. I’ve done a few short hops that were percentage. Bakersfield to Santa Ana if I recall. They paid good. That terminal manager in Visalia is a nice guy and will work with you. Tell him you’ll try it for a week or 2 and if you don’t like it ask him to kick you off of it. California dispatch has never frustrated me. In my opinion, it’s one of the best umbrellas to operate under at IRT.

I finally got towed to the service center in Elko, NV. Knew I needed towed on Friday after I got hit. Bent the leaf springs and broke the u bolts. They are going to need to inspect the axle for other damage. I for sure know its out of alignment as the steering wheel is upside down if you drive it straight. When I’m in Visalia I haven’t stayed at the tank wash. I’ll either go the yard or the truck stops down the road and chill there. I haven’t done anything other then just drop the dirty and get the clean from that one. Yeah the guys in California are pretty chill and so far I like them more than the other offices.

That’s some bad luck on your truck, especially close to Christmas. I was in Alabama back in 2017. I was in route to Little Rock from Florida and had all of the dash lights come on saying low oil pressure, engine shutdown, etc. They had me limp it to a Peterbilt by cycling the key every time it shut off. I ended up in a motel for a few days until they discovered the engine was shot (oil filter was full of metal shavings). Mine was like the 36th truck that it happened to. It was some kind of Cummins defect with a cam that operated the fuel pump or something like that. They ended up flying me home (I had been out a month). Afterwards, they put me in a new truck with only 10 or 20K miles on it and let me dead head to the Peterbilt in Alabama to get all of my personal property out of the other truck. Knock on wood, I haven’t experienced too many shop visits during my time at IRT. Hopefully it stays that way.

Yeah that sucks. That’s why I always have some money saved up for stuff like this. The truck was getting replaced in a week or two anyways. So I know they won’t spend anymore on it then they need to. Hopefully they’ll get the stuff fixed pretty soon and at least get it road worthy and good enough to pass the scales in Truckee. I’ll try to get them to just deadhead me back to Visalia to swap trucks out. Yeah

Got the truck fixed enough to drive back to Visalia last night. Replaced my old truck with one of the condo sleeper ones. Thing already has several issues I know will need to be addressed soon. But they only had that or one of the smaller Pete’s available. I’m seriously considering just taking the smaller one since it doesn’t have issues and just waiting for something else to open up.

I was given a condo in March due to the wiring harness being bad on the mid roof I was in. In case you didn’t see my post about it several months ago, you can’t back into the bay at a place in Vermont (can’t remember the name) with a condo. There’s one in Little Rock that’s an issue too. Glad to hear they got you out of the shop.

Yeah I switched into the other one they had. It’s one of the smaller ones. I don’t really carry a ton of stuff in trucks with me, so it’ll do for now. Told them when they get one of the bigger ones that isn’t a condo open up let me know. On my way to Spokane and they have me preplannrd for a load to Florida but I already told them no, I have home time for Christmas. I’ll see what they do

What’s the official deal with hometime here? I’ve been on the road since the beginning of November. Put in hometime for Christmas on the Qualcomm like their handbook says to do. Now they put me on a load from WA to FL. I called Visalia and they said you’re supposed to call and I’m pretty much SOL.

Yes, you need to call. I schedule mine a few weeks ahead of time. You can have any terminal enter it into the computer for you. Sometimes I have Florida do it, sometimes Mission. You will need to schedule your home time at least a week to 10 days ahead of time that way they have time to work you that direction. It’s also a good idea to casually mention it on the phone here and there as the days get closer.
