I don't think we have any customers in NYC. I certainly haven't been to any. There are a couple in CT which could mean driving across the GW bridge and through the boroughs, but I just take the long way around across the Tappan Zee.

Some tractors are equipped with a PTO to run a hydraulic pump on the Whiskey tanks (we don't actually haul whiskey in them, they are just called that) that is used to pump on or off product.

It's a really simple process though the hoses and piping etc can look daunting. I got about a 10 minute crash course when I was the only one available to haul a hazmat pump off load.

I imagine if someone was hired as a pump truck operator they would receive more in depth training.

I’ve crossed the GW Bridge and went through NYC a dozen or so times on my way to deliver in Connecticut and Massachusetts. I’ve also loaded in Vermont once which involved going through. I have never had a shipper or consignee address in NYC or had to get off the big road for any reason, though. A lot of our drivers go up and around to avoid it. I live in Texas, though, so for me it’s worth the hassle in order to see the skyline and the scenery of it all. If it weren’t for that, I’d go around it like everyone else. I assume the sightseeing isn’t interesting for folks who live up there and see it regularly. I time it where I pass through at night, but I’ve came back to Bensalem the same way during the day and only got hung up in traffic once.

With the condition of the rods from the GW thru NYC I would definitely use the Tappen Zee.

Are the sleepers the big midsize ones or they the smaller ones?

The midroof 579 trucks are big enough for you where you can actually stand up in… but I believe they also have some of the 579 ultralofts the high-rise condos, Peterbilt makes.

    Tanker_82 and Redtwin Thank this.
