I've never heard of anything like that on the washes. I'm getting washed right now. I never pay for any washes, we have accounts at all the ones I've been too. Prosser, Gary, OJs, Danny's in Phoenix, probably more I just can't remember.
I got done with my home time and took a load from the Clovis yard 2005 miles to Ayer, Massachusetts. Washed in Kearny NJ, got some good pictures of New York skyline at night too. I made a round from Laurel MD to Murfreesboro then up to Ohio and on to Wisconsin. Ran a Coopersville to Lowville NY then brought one back to Wisconsin from there. Still going strong out here. Monday night was the cut off and I had 3,167 paid miles for the week.
I've been around IRT long enough that I don't believe anything is shady with payroll. I have NEVER had issues with my pay or reimbursement for anything. I've bought a light or 2 on the road and got reimbursed immediately. I've had my truck serviced at the TA and not had to pay a dime or do any kind of a T check. I've had 2 brand new steer tires put on at Amarillo Loves and not had to pay or do any kind of check either.
The only time I pay for a wash is when I go to the Blue Beacon. I call dispatch, get a PO number, pay for the wash with my money, Transflo in the receipt, and it's ALWAYS reimbursed the following pay period.nextgentrucker, REO6205, heavychevy and 3 others Thank this. -
Everything is still going great at IRT. I've been doing a lot of Clovis area to San Antonio loads (I requested to stay in the Clovis loop until after the 4th of July). I'm in Tempe right now. Brought one here from McAllen and taking one back to the Dallas area.
I've got a question if anyone wants to share their opinion. I'm thinking about buying a small generator and mounting it behind the sleeper to power a microwave and coffee pot. I've been on a diet and trying to eat healthier out here plus cut my food costs down on the road. I got carried away with restaurant buffets and fast food these last 6 months. Have any of you ever went the generator route over the power inverter? I have a 1500 watt power drive that's 3-4 years old. I have a set of jumper cables with ring terminals on one end bolted to the inverter with the alligator clamps on the other end. I just hook it up when needed then unhook and roll them up in my side box when I'm done. My hands end up getting nasty before eating and I have to leave the side box door open while using it (full size door in sleeper). It's just a pain. Clovis said they'd wire it in free but I have to buy the fuse and ends. I'm thinking a small generator would be a cleaner easier setup plus less fire hazard. Any thoughts? -
Several drivers here on TTR have done this as a cheaper APU set-up. Some of them have made some very nice boxes that encase the generator as it hangs on the truck frame, but most strap it to the catwalk.
Sadly, I cannot remember the user names of any of the drivers who have the generators or I would tag one or two of them for you. If I remember them or see them mention their set up, I will tag them here for you.Tanker_82 Thanks this. -
Check the Mercer thread, several guys there have created their own set up. Always willing to offer advice.

Thanks for the replies. I'm thinking a small 2000 or so watt would work. I can bungee a weed eater size gas can back there too. Don't even need to keep gas in the can since I'm at a truck stop daily.

I've never heard of the generator route. When I was as at Irt I bought long jumper cables and cut the clamps off, and replaced them with rings. Then cut a hole in floor, and ran it to battery permanently. It would be best to have inline fuse, but I did not.
On the diet note, if you haven't already, and if you still believe it's "all about calories" please challenge yourself to question that thought, and learn about hyperinsulinema. I'm risking sounding like some blow hard here, but I have found the information extremely rewarding. I'm down to 265 now after being as high as 325.
If you want any cool links on that kind of info just ask.Dharok and CrossettDriver Thank this.
