I can't say for certain, best to call recruiting and ask but I do know a driver that had a trainee with him. He said the guy only had about 6 months experience, so you may have to go with a trainer...assuming they can find one.

I just called not to long ago recruiter told me I need 6-7 months experience and I will have to go out with a trainer

The training program is in its infancy and they are having trouble finding drivers willing to train so I would keep your options open.
If you really want to get on tankers, maybe look at companies that have tank divisions and have a more established training program like Schneider or Prime (bet Chinatown knows a bunch others) so you can get enough experience under your belt.Speed_Drums and lual Thank this. -
I’m not sure if these posts were for me or if the multiple quotes were an accident. I’m an OTR driver and have been since I hired on. I’ve never been a local Clovis driver. At one point, back in 2016 and 2017, Clovis was technically my “home terminal” due to the fact that I still lived in Oklahoma City at that point in time. When I moved to San Antonio and IRT opened the terminal in Mission, TX, I requested to have that terminal be my home. I see it when I return to work after taking time off, and then I never see it again until the next time I go home. I run the system and float from region-to-region. I did the same thing when I lived in Okc.Speed_Drums Thanks this.

Recruiting will have to answer that one. The experience required has changed a few times since I hired on in 2016. I visited with a trainer/trainee in Lake Wales, FL a few weeks ago. The trainee had attended truck driving school and worked somewhere (can’t recall the name) OTR for two months prior to coming here. I asked how long he had to train for, and he said 200 log hours.Speed_Drums and CalculatedRisk Thank this.

What's the percentage of trailers with issues (insufficient tread depth, light that doesn't work, etc)?
-
Can you wear flip flops when doing tanker?
-
There is a company policy that states closed toe shoes or boots and there are some facilities that won't let you get out of the truck if not wearing proper clothing. I do see all kinds of footwear being worn though.
Also, climbing on a tank ladder in flip-flops would be a really bad idea, but I tend to like my bones to stay in one piece.Speed_Drums, lual, Tanker_82 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Worn tires aren't an issue here, you will occasionally come across a flat tire though. These tanks pass through terminals to get washed etc very often so I assume that is why there is less worn tire situations like you get with say a dry van that can run for months before it sees a terminal
The biggest issue I have noticed is missing mud flaps. Lights do go out however all but the rear clearance lights are easy to change from ground level.lual, Tanker_82, insipidtoast and 1 other person Thank this. -
