Their Pete’s run Cummins instead of paccar? I’ve got a pretty new kenworth with the paccar engine. Worst engine I’ve ever had.

Did they get rid of those smaller trucks as well? I haven’t seen one of those in a while
-
If you’re talking about those Peterbilts that had the smoke stacks and narrow cabs, yes. Those were all gone when I hired back on in 2016.bentstrider83 Thanks this.

Yes, the small sleeper trucks have Paccar engines, but those are being replaced. I drove a Paccar truck once but not up any big hills. I liked how quiet it was, but all the lane keeping and radar stuff got on my nerves. I'm glad that stuff isn't on the new trucks replacing them.Tanker_82 and Bobblehead Thank this.

The small sleeper trucks were also 579s and are being replaced with the bigger 80" sleeper.Speed_Drums and Bobblehead Thank this.

Aren't Paccar engines made by Cummins?
-
No, they are not..paccar makes them in Columbus msSpeed_Drums and Tanker_82 Thank this.

My Pete has a Cummins. It’s a full size 80” not one of the small regional trucks with the window in the back. I say regional because that’s what a lot of us referred to them as.Last edited: Mar 2, 2023

I’m a firm no on wanting a Cascadia or Volvo. Lol. I do like the Cascadia cup holders better, though.
I agree these 579’s are nice. I think the older style Petes we used to have looked sharper, and I liked how the dash came up higher, but these are definitely roomier.
That stinks about your transmission. Knock on wood, mine hasn’t given me any problems yet other than having to cycle the key 5 times to reset things once or twice. I did have an alternator go out last year. I had driven across Montana at night, and when I took the exit for the Loves in Spokane I lost everything. Apparently my headlights drained everything across Montana, although they never went dim. Fortunately, I was across the street from Loves. They jumped me and had me whip it into the shop real quick to get off the road. They put an alternator on it and everything was fine afterward.Speed_Drums and Redtwin Thank this. -
In Platteville the tanker is either clean or dirty. If dirty is all they got, then we run with it. In Hutch, we either grab a clean from Jackson/Kroger, or from a local tank wash. If none, we got to wait there.
Dirty/expired tankers dropped at Hartley are usually taken back to Clovis by people going home or someone volunteering for shuttle only.Speed_Drums, insipidtoast and Tanker_82 Thank this.
