When I ran coast to coast my runs were normally FL to socal or Washington State to FL . Bounce and run some loads to AZ and NM or Spokane. And back to FL. Other drivers are in Clovis every days. Some times you may realize your in a loop of runs in the same region.
There are many different lanes honestly. If you wanna stay running; do favors, build relationships, learn what runs certain driver managers run, prove your worth, be reliable, and ask to stay on those runs.
When I was running coast to coast I may have a 2700 mile run, but chances are that load is slated for 6 days and it may or may not be able to be delivered early. You may sit for a day or 2 for your next load. I generally would average 2500. Teams get preferred treatment for coast to coast runs and they are often preloaded ( I would often ask to do any preloads for teams over sitting or shuttle trailers from the tank wash)
Irt differs from most that you have a driver manager.Your assigned driver manager; to me is like a liaison for daily needs but is generally not going to be dispatching you outside of their said region. That is your go-to poc. Now when you get dispatched to a different region you contact dispatch for that region. If that region is not where you driver manager covers, another driver manager/dispatcher will plan out your next load.
Sorry I probably butchered that explanation ^

Those are some runs that consist of 1,200+ miles. Most are 2,000+ miles. There are quite a few more that originate in California and go across the country, but I can’t remember the names of the different towns/cities they pickup in.Speed_Drums, Bud A., Rugerfan and 4 others Thank this. -
Well said.asphaltreptile311 and Flattop23 Thank this.

Do they usually wait until the last minute to work out your travel to orientation? They said someone would call me this week to take care of it. I never heard anything so I called yesterday. My recruiter said they will take care of it Friday or Saturday. She said I'll get an email with travel info. Well, it's Saturday now and it's getting late. No call, no email, nothing. I'm supposed to be at orientation on Tuesday. I'm about 1200 miles away so I guess a rental car is out of the question now. Communication really seems to be an issue with Indian River so far and I really hope that's not a sign of what's to come.
Speed_Drums and Rugerfan Thank this. -

Depending on who your recruiter is they might have been out a day or two this week. I know one of them missed Thursday and put things a little behind. I'd keep calling once or twice a day. I only live 45 miles away so that won't be an issue for me if/when I come over but I've had it happen before at another company years ago. Also try checking the driver pulse app. They've sent me a few things through that.Cobrawastaken Thanks this. -
I can’t speak for the orientation travel arrangements. It’s been almost seven years since I attended mine, and I chose to drive my personal pickup to Clovis back then.
I do believe “travel arrangements” are handled by a particular person, though. I don’t know that for certain, so don’t quote me. It’s possible that person had a family emergency or was ill. I would think worse case scenario is if you aren’t able to get there by Tuesday they will just bump you to a Thursday class or something like that. Again, I’m just speculating and don’t want to speak for recruiting. If they weren’t bringing you on, they would just tell you. I wouldn’t sweat it.Cobrawastaken, drvrtech77 and rednready Thank this. -
I went through the process about 6 months ago.
Basically communication was like pulling teeth with the recruiter. (I do think she got promoted while I was processing on)
On these Sunday before orientation they switched me from having a flight to a rental car. Then when I went to pick up the rental car they told me not to pick it up yet because my drug test had not cleared. I told them I would take the risk because I knew that I'm going to pass my drug test.
Fast forward. I drove Monday to Clovis from Dallas. Went through orientation. Got back in my rental car. Got to Lubbock and flew to cedar rapids. Everything felt it was very last minute honestly.
I don't know if that answer gives you the warm heebie jeebies. That compared to what I went through it seems "normal"Speed_Drums, wulfman75 and Cobrawastaken Thank this. -
Don’t forget to check your spam folder for the email, too. I receive my weekly paystubs via email and have had a few end up there in the past.
wulfman75 Thanks this. -
Nothing in my spam either. I'm not gonna worry too much. I just hope it doesn't get pushed out another week. My money is getting pretty tight after waiting for 3 weeks already.Tanker_82 Thanks this.

Have you completed all your driver pulse modules? Drug test? I'm assuming you have have more than a year of experience ( sorry if I missed that)
