It wouldn’t surprise me if you still end up switching tanks once you get there. Some customers require the tank to be washed within 24 hours, some 48 hours, and most 72 hours. By the time you get there, the window will be closing in on that.
As far as where you might load at, it’s hard to say. You might pickup in Tipton to go to Spokane. You might pickup in Lindsay to go to Florida (or several other destinations like Joplin, Phoenix, North Carolina, etc). You might pickup in Fresno to go to Joplin, Arkansas, etc. There are quite a few shippers within 100 miles of Tulare.

I'm off to a heluva start. Memphis yeast load canceled at shipper. Then they sent me to Montgomery AL to pick up vinegar going to JAX. That load also canceled at shipper. I've been on the road for 4 days and haven't had a single drop of product in the tank. I'm getting paid for all of the empty miles but it's a frustrating start to say the least. I hope my luck changes soon. Hopefully everyone else is having better luck than me.
Speed_Drums and RockinChair Thank this. -
I try to just lurk and not intrude too much here, but my nosiness got the better of me on this one. Why the time limit for a washout?

I'm new to tanker so I'm just making an assumption. You would think if it's clean, it's clean and it would stay clean. But, my guess is that when it sits too long there's a very small chance that bacteria can grow after a while and the shippers don't wanna take the chance.Redtwin and motocross25 Thank this.

To my understanding, it’s to keep bacteria from building up like Cobra said. There is a dairy customer in Michigan that requires a freshly washed tank when picking up at their facility, and they actually re-wash the tank themselves prior to loading, even though it was just washed at a commercial wash out hours earlier. It’s just their policy. Some customers swab test the tank prior to loading, too.
There are also different types of Kosher wash outs. Depending on what type is listed on your wash certificate, you might not be able to pickup at certain facilities. Some wash outs involve drying the trailer afterward, too. Each customer has their own criteria.Last edited: Oct 22, 2023

Hmm interesting. I had no idea I thought a clean tank was a clean tank. Thanks for the explanations.Tanker_82 Thanks this.

Well I made it to the love's in tehachapi, ca last night and woke up to a message this morning that a driver went to the hospital and they need his load repowered. They're having me go back to Barstow to swap trailers and take the load to La Habra. Looks like they're still paying me for driving all the way to Tulare and then back to Barstow from there to pick it up, and obviously the loaded miles to go to La Habra. They weren't able to tell me his status so I hope the driver is okay. I wish him a speedy recovery
Speed_Drums, Tanker_82, Redtwin and 2 others Thank this. -
I hate to hear that. Hopefully they’re okay. La Habra doesn’t ring a bell. I’m not sure if I’ve delivered there.Nashville Thanks this.

It's a bakery for Ralph's grocery store. It was a drop and hook too. Nice staff, easy delivery.

I hope that driver is going to be okay.
After you deliver in La Habra will you swap trailers at Barstow and resume your current load, or will they repower that one?motocross25 Thanks this.
