I had the same thing happen to me on my first trip to CA with IRT. Got empty, called in and was told to head to "Tillery". All this time I thought it was pronounced "Too-lair".
Same with hearing "La Hoya" for years and not knowing it is the same place as La Jolla.![]()

I didn't have a load. They were just having me deadhead to Tulare over the weekend so they could assign me a load from there come Monday.RockinChair Thanks this.

After I got empty in La Habra they told me to take my trailer up to Tulare and drop it then get a clean one. They put me on a load of tangerine juice concentrate going from Tipton, CA to Fort Pierce, FL. I'll pick that up tomorrow at 10am. I guess it pays off to do them a favor without complaining.

Speed_Drums, Nashville, RockinChair and 1 other person Thank this. -
Tipton isn’t a bad place to load. They’re pretty good about honoring appointments. Once you’re inside, it’s about a 1 to 1.5 hour process. Fort Pierce should be a drop and hook.Nashville and Cobrawastaken Thank this.

I used to pronounce it “Too-lair” as well. LolNashville and Cobrawastaken Thank this.

I guess it depends on where you live as to how you pronounce it. For instance Houston, TX. is pronounced like H"you"ston but Houston, De. is pronounced "House ton"

After Ft Pierce you will most likely get a deadhead back to Winter Haven. Once there, head into dispatch office and let them know when you are ready to roll again.
That seems to get better results than going through driver manager.
I've found that they do make a note of drivers that are willing to run and don't give them any issues. They may ask for favors repowering loads or shuttling empty tanks, but I have never thought of it that way. It's their truck/fuel, I made an unspoken "agreement" with them when I got hired that I would drive their truck as my job. Anything they pay me to do with that truck is "work".
A favor is something they may ask of me which isn't driving their truck for paid miles. Something like trailer checks at a drop yard or helping out another driver with their load/QC/customer directions etc.
Sounds pedantic, but I find having that mindset pays off.RockinChair, Speed_Drums, Bud A. and 2 others Thank this. -
