On recap you're on an 8 day cycle so yes 8.75 is correct so in a perfect world you would run 8hr45m every day and never have to do a reset. Obviously that's not realistic so yeah you gotta just go with the flow. I say when you have miles then you should just use your hours even if you get to your destination early. Early deliveries are possible at a lot of places, especially when it's drop and hook. You might sit for a day after a delivery in some parts of the country so if you take your time getting there running 8.75hrs a day then you're just holding yourself back. I think a "hybrid" system where you use your hours when you have them is best at Indian River. I tried running recap exclusively when I started here and it kinda worked but there were times where I was leaving hours on the table because of time between loads. Honestly one of my biggest gripes about this company is time between loads. It's not always bad, but I almost never deliver a load and pick up another one right away the same day. But that's only my experience, YMMV.

We have one regular customer in Florida that is a live unload and it is always at night. Unloader doesn't even get in until 9pm. No point trying to show up early during the day as you will just sit until night. There is another in Miami with strict morning appointments starting at 6am.
I will run recap when I need to, but if I can, I would rather reset every week. They know that and will accommodate me if they can. Resetting doesn't always work in my favor as far as maximizing income for the week, but I like knowing I have a full clock to run 11hrs a day and deliver loads early whenever possible.
Intentionally cutting my day short at 8hrs or whatever has never been beneficial in my opinion. If a slow day due to unloading etc occurs I just roll with it. It just means I reset with 15+ hours left on my 70. I'm ok with that.nextgentrucker, JohnBoy and Tanker_82 Thank this. -

@nextgentrucker Another thing to remember on the recap subject, is you don’t necessarily have to remain parked until midnight if you’re waiting on your gain back time. For example, if you only have 6 hours available on your 70 but stand to gain back more at midnight, you can go ahead and hit the road at 6 or 6:30PM in that scenario. When the clock strikes midnight, the additional time you gain will automatically show up where you can keep right on cruising. That is how I do it in those situations. Just remember it goes off midnight in your home terminal time zone, not where you’re currently operating.

We had a slump for a bit but I think it had to do more with a restructure of the dispatch system past few weeks I have been running hard and seems more efficient may just be the time of the year but I am happy

Dude, if you’re banking $1300 a week stay where you’re at, OTR is not that great anyway.
