I usually stop here. Good food and nice showers. Probably stay in Shreveport tomorrow. Planning around Tallahassee Saturday and be in the Tampa area Sunday.

Well, I’ll be dropping this in Winter Haven. Tropicana closes tonight till Tuesday morning. No drops, and with the mess of last week, I’ll be doing a 34. At least I’ll be home.
Vic Firth, Crusader66 and Tanker_82 Thank this. -
Not to make a habit of talking about money on the forum, just wanted to state on here for the guys who asked about detention pay.. I did receive $225 detention for the time spent sitting in Grandview, WA last week. I just saw it on my stub. So yes, IRT will pay you when things like that happen.
tommymonza, motocross25, Vic Firth and 2 others Thank this. -
I 2nd that. I received detention pay as well. When they switched my load, they said to make sure and turn in my waiting time. All good.
motocross25, Crusader66 and Tanker_82 Thank this. -
Well I delivered the juice this morning. Waited till rush hour traffic died down. Squeezed in a 34 too. Hung out around the beach area yesterday. A little on the rainy side, but still very relaxing. I have actual home time in 8 days. Waiting to hear where I’m heading next.
Tanker_82 and motocross25 Thank this. -
We finished moving our things to San Antonio this past weekend. Had a horrible night Saturday. To make a long story short... we loaded everything up that morning, drove 500 miles down, only to find out that the property manager forgot to hide the keys like we had arranged since we were coming from Okc and wouldn’t get into SA until late at night.
No big deal, just go get a motel, right?? Wrong! We tried 20+ motels, no vacancies. Go figure. Memorial weekend, 2am, etc.
So... after spending the previous 4 weeks on the road in my semi, I got to spend a night of my home time sleeping in the cab of my Ford pickup with the wife and our 100 pound lab. To make matters even more disgusting, Sunday (the morning we woke up in the parking lot) was her birthday. Heck of a way to wake up on the wife’s birthday huh? It took a few hours the following morning, but we were finally able to get the keys to our place (that I had already shelled out $1,300 to secure last month). The property manager got a piece of our minds needless to say. They apologized repeatedly. Spent the day moving in, went to Logan’s Roadhouse and had steaks/margaritas, then went back Monday to get my semi.
I left OKC this morning, dead heading to Mission. Made it to Falfurrias (632 miles) and was almost out of time. I don’t have a pre plan yet.Vic Firth Thanks this. -
Wow! Man, that’s rough. I won’t complain about anything for a few days after hearing about your time off. I noticed yesterday more new trucks, but they looked different. The don’t have the side fairings around the tanks. I got some supplies at the shop and asked about the trucks. They also said the sleepers are shorter and no built in refrigerators. Have some type of coolers in them. The guy at the shop said he things they’re more for the local short haul guys.
I got a preplan late yesterday. Picking up a loaded tank off the yard, going to Murfreesboro, TN for a drop and hook. Said going to keep me in the Midwest, southeast since I’m due for hone time next week. -
It wasn’t too bad, just irritating since it was her birthday. That’s cool they’re keeping you close until your home time.
bigcat1124 Thanks this. -
I have noticed something while at the yard. I’ve seen several trucks with lights running under the sleeper above the side fairing. Some on the back of the sleeper. Extra chrome. Are these guys O/O? Lease purchase? Or just adding this stuff on their own to a company truck? Didn’t know if you’ve noticed that before?
Tanker_82 Thanks this. -
A lot of guys just add it on their own to the company truck. One guy even bought a brush guard. One guy bought a tire chain rack for the frame. I’ve seen a lot of chicken lights too.
bigcat1124 Thanks this.
