I80w and I94w merge at mm16 in Indiana. Here's the thing regarding the truck lane restrictions in this area. From the time the driver merges onto I80w/I94w at mm16, he/she travels roughly 10 MILES to mm 6 before the first and only truck lane restriction sign appears. And what does it say? 'NO TRUCKS LEFT LANE'. At that point of the interstate is is a 5 LANE ROADWAY!!!

Indiana Regulation IC9-21-4-1 clearly states Indiana signage must follow the guidlines of the Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (IMUTCD).

Chapter 2B, Sec2B.01 of this IMUTCD manual clearly states that regulatory signs must be installed at or near where the regulation applies and must clearly indicate the requirements!

10 miles of travel is NOT at or near where the regulation applies! There is NO WAY officiers should be issuing ANY citations for a truck traveling in ANY lane on that 10 miles stretch of roadway prior to mm6 where the 'No Trucks Left Lane' sign is posted!

If that's the case, then someone, driver or carriers, need to get their attorney's involved and force them to comply with their own laws. They will not do so, until they are ordered to by the courts. What carrier is one of the largest, having numerous trucks running those routes? They should be going after them. Stuff like this is not just going to change without someone raising hell0 about it. You get cited, then challenge them, and have evidence to back it up. If the local judge is ignoring it, appeal. That's the only way these stupid things get changed.

How about this.. bring it to the public's attention en-mass. Have someone contact the media about this, about just how unsafe this is for the cars, or whatever will entice the media to go after a story and sell their station or newspapers.
