Correct, the ABL power only rates are the same I was working for in 2018. I've already gotten 4 raises in 6 months of turnpike, and my FSC is over 55c/mi now. I also just heard city rates tanked! 29/hr for Bison City O/O's now, and NO LONGER BY THE HOUR! paid by the move, dispatch determines how long it takes. TransX City is 24.50/hr I was told, others even worse. VK delivery will do 4 pallets in VCR/YYC for $25bux lol madness.

I can verify the speeding past you while you are backing up as this has been done a lot by new Americans here in the states as well.

but this past month I saw something I never thought I’d see.

A livestock hauler taking a shower while he was parked in the fuel isle. Now i was shocked when I saw a “trucker” in the traditional supposed sense come out of the truck stop and hop into his Pete. Like nothing was wrong. Plenty of parking spaces so that wasn’t the issues.

think of it this way. A copy of a copy of a copy of a copy isn’t the same as the original.

Dilution Theory isn’t just applied to other fields. Common sense is becoming more valuable than gold.

They need to move showers right onto the fuel island beside the pump.

The entitlement these days is off the charts. But at least he took a shower I guess.

The livestock haulers, loggers and majority of the fuel haulers (except seabord-harmac) are the only ones on the road still with brains it seems.

Best advice here. Honestly I'm thinking of getting into municipal bus driving (TTC). Cousin has been in it 6 years and he's up over 100K a year now. Nothing really left in this industry. Government doesn't give a #### as long as shelves are staying stocked.

Hard to compete when you want a living wage and buddy will drive for $25/day cash.

I tried that 2016, lasted 5 months. "Training" was 4 months of that.
I have MILLIONS of accident free miles under my belt but the trainer, who had MANY accidents, never drove anything other than a bus, rode me like a rented mule.
We went out in the busses every day, he had 6 of us on the bus, everybody got to drive once, except me, I drove twice, and he screamed at me constantly. He took the wheel one day and almost crashed.
I asked the recruiter if the city hired Journeyman electricians/plumbers etc, and made them do their 4 year apprenticeship again. She said no...
Starting wages were crap, and the crap you take from supervisors was nuts. They were all abused as drivers by their supervisors, now is their turn to abuse the drivers. I had a stomach bug, that I ended up with antibiotics to cure, I had a split shift day that took 12 hrs to complete, plus my commute, and got paid 8 hrs for it....
So.... They forced me in to do an early fill in run BEFORE starting my 12hr day I told them I was sick, no extra tomorrow please, I'll cover MY shift... please..., they forced me in.
I showed up, 3/4 of the way thru, i had to bail off the bus and puke behind a tree almost at the end of it at 7am.
I got some on me, and it was coming out both ends.... I got back to the terminal, at which time I needed to take 2 busses to get me to my bus that would start my day. I asked to be relieved enough to go home and change my clothes. Told no, if I go off sick I'll be subject to disciplinary action as I'm a probationary driver by another of those great supervisors.
I quit on the spot... and bought and new truck.
I've never seen a work place with a more poison environment.
Hopefully TTC is better than Metro Transit, and maybe as a younger fellow you will stomach the abuse better than an older (I was 55 at the time) guy like me.
    Good luck.

Bus driving means dealing with the public, and that's a good bit of abuse. You get not only the kids but also the homeless and mentally ill to attempt to settle as you manage a bus full of everyone else. On top of that the traffic isn't respectful as in the pre-immigrant days, so you got to fight for your right to get back into a lane. As a bus driver you're haulin' live cargo, and that cargo sometimes gets out of hand, you got to stop the bus and call the Police on people. It's a dirty job. Truckin' there's none of that and it's great in that regard. Just have to buy your own rig and get on with a solid broker, a good contract and there's money to be made, just have to stop showering at the fuel island.
