I don't know what is so "tight" about this corner, I have made tighter turns many times before.

Ok, new driver time. This does not seem to be that hard of a corner( quickly knocking on wood). My guess is he tried it too fast. Maybe got panicked by cars behind or tried to jump into a hole? Either way, I agree, I was made to make tighter turns by instructors in school. And downtown Atlanta wasn't easy the first time. Here he at least had a separate turning lane!
