So how often do relays like this occur. I would not be a happy camper if I was given an all day air pump needing 120 ft of hose so another guy could roll. I would want to roll. Now if it goes to a local guy that's different.

I have pulled dry vans my entire 20 + years. Never pulled a tank but it is very interesting to me. If you think you are out of your league in this conversation, try it from my perspective. :)

I'm glad you are asking the questions and trying to figure it out, because I don't know what I don't know. Quite frankly, I'm learning an awful lot just following along as you, and others, ask questions while those with much more tank experience answer the questions.

I'm glad firespock started this thread. It has already been greatly informative.

Relaying happens all the time. Most of the time a local driver delivers it.

Actually glad to hear that. I make a lot more money running than sitting at a plant.

    Ditto that!

I begin school in September, after all is done I intend to get in to a tanker, if not, then flatbed. I have subscribed to a number threads and this one has become a favorite.

    Thanks all!

We get a lot of that as well. Drop a load on the yard for a local guy to deliver while they keep you moving. I have delivered a few of those at my home terminal for hourly pay.

Relay is probably not the best term. I think of 2 guys swapping loads when I hear it
