The truth is out there. They'll tell you how you can "log that as line 1 or 2 if the truck doesn't roll over 5mph" or "I can call my dispatcher and get them to make adjustments" or if it was really bad how they had an impossible time finding a parking spot because it ate up all of their time (most of them never admit this ever happens) - then some smart ### would tell them they didn't plan their trip properly haha!!

I didn't realize that e-logs were such a touchy topic tho. That was my mistake and I'm sorry if anyone was offended. For those of you who did help I appreciate it and today I passed those names on to one of the o/o. As long as your happy with your comic book than everyone else will be happy too.

I am a company driver and love elogs. Mainly because DOT never even asks to see my logs once they know I have elogs. I wake up, put in pretrip, do my checks, drive, fuel up, hit the on duty button, take a break, hit off duty button, drive, end day and hit sleeper button. Love it, and I can get up to 4000 miles per week legally with elogs.

Wrong. You can just put it in off duty if traffic is barely moving. I also have a GPS with traffic warnings that work great. When I see a major delay on my GPS I detour and totally avoid the traffic. I then hear later truckers talk about how they were stuck in the spot I avoided for over an hour.

Elogs can be altered, contrary to what their proponents would suggest. There is really no difference, as far as compliance is concerned, between running elogs and running paper logs. Both can be manipulated. The big difference is that those selling elogs won't be making as much money if most of us continue using paper logs. It may make some of the control freaks "feel" good, but it has not shown to be any safer to run elogs than paper. It is obvious that it is much more expensive. I would love for the feds or anyone else to be forced to prove that regulations are actually necessary for the safety of the public, before they are allowed to push their agenda. I guarantee you that we would have far fewer rules and regulations. In fact, I would like to see them prove that all of the rules that they push are really necessary in order to keep them on the books. That would give them something to do. And they should not be allowed to do the studies themselves. All should be done by third parties without any interest in the outcome.

And how can the Elog come to the rescue if you have an accident, and it was found you claimed off duty while sitting in traffic, inching along? I would think that would be considered driving. Maybe it wouldn't be considered driving if the road was closed for a few hours because they were shooting down possible avalanches or something. But just in traffic? Doubt it ...
