    Hi,

Anybody know of an GPS unit that will allow me to make the route that the qual comm sends me? Like in google maps you can request a route then click on the path and drag the route to a different path. I see that the garmin nuvi 200 has a route via this place or something like that, but I think you can only do one 'stop' on the route.

The Nuvi 750 with an SD card for expansion. Loaded memory can only handle "10" routes.

Street Pilot handles differant "waypoints/stops" within the routing itself.

    Check either of those out.

Any of the Garmins will allow one waypoint. So, you plan your route, one waypoint at a time. Sometimes, it takes putting in only one waypoint to reroute you for the entire route you want to take. Otherwise just drive to the waypoint and input another waypoint until you get to your destination. It really isn't that big of a deal.

The garmins get glitches from time to time. I did not know I had a fast truck. I thought I topped out at 70. The other day it showed I was going 876 mph....:biggrin_2554:

I have WorldNav. It is a GPS unit for truckers and it shows me when bridge is low. The road near bridge is in red and when I try to make a route it will not let me route through this bridge. I used to have Garmin but you are rigth. It does not show you truck restricted roads.

The only portable GPS that I know for truckers is WorldNav. I purchase mine from RadioShack. It seems doing good job. It has all the low bridges that I worry about and also truck restricted roads. Just got an email that new update is coming to me for free. Sounds good so far. Oleg

I realize i'm late to the party, nothing new there! I had the PCMiler, found it too hard to use. And I coulnt zoomin too towns etc.. I now have the MS Streets and trips. I like to use it with the gps on, you need to buy the one with the receiver or you will buy one later. I like using it for miles and to check the upcoming exit etc.. I still ALWAYS check the atlas tho, and call the shpr or rec., then check the directions for myself. Lets me see the streets etc ahead of time. I havent heard of a single unit that you can trust 100 % of the time. Cant explain why not yet.

Which unit do you have? Have you had any problems so far? I read some user reviews a couple of months ago that were not very encouraging.

I just bought a Navi 200w this past weekend. So I can way in with a bit more authority on this one now..

Waypoints and Via may be limited as you say (1 per trip). But, you can preload each destination from the start of the trip. Effectively doing the same thing as multi-stop points.

A simple loading of the information (address) to each stop, then hit "go to" saves it in a list of "most recent". From there, you simply use the menu to select from the "most recent" list for your next stop. Worked like a charm for me.

I have some additional things to check out today. I'll provide any thoughtful updates if any. One feature I do like...the "Go Home" :)

Be carefull of the routes that the GPA give's you. You might end up in an area you do not want to be. I wish Garmin would come out with a big truck GPS. You could tell it hazmat routing, weith or how tall you are and it would route you accordingly
