I drove for TransAm from jan06-june07 as a company driver, they were a good company and everyone was great to me. I ran off the FAC dedicated acct out of RockyMt, NC. I do not believe they have that anymore. They were my 1st company. I was out w/a trainer for 4 weeks. as soon as i came off the truck they had plenty of trucks to chose from on the yard. back then you could chose from about 6 or 7 trucks. I doubt its like that on the Olathe yard. I got great miles. most i ever got was 4360 in one week. I usually averaged around 2500-3800 a week in miles. I ran a lot of NYC, all the boroughs. They did great at getting me home when i requested. I loved my dispatcher. He was very professional. Ive heard a lot of horror stories about TransAm in the last couple of years. I think the company has gone down hill since the original owner is not over the company anymore. Good luck w/your decision!

Well you were gone b4 I even came aboard. I heard that it used to be better when Johnny actually ran it, from a bunch of former drivers. Its amazing, just how many drivers out there either started with or worked for TA. Unfortunately, bean counters are in charge now and they just really don't care about their drivers.... or many of their other employees. Planners, mechanics, etc. If this economy does pick up, I believe that this company will be hard pressed to keep their contracts with the drivers they won't have. JMHO

Are you currently w/TA? When I was there the thing w/Johnny was that he did not have a door on his office b/c he wanted driver's to feel free to come into his office at any time they wanted. I got to meet him one time and he was such a nice laid back guy. He asked if everyone was treating me right and if my truck needed any repairs or I needed anything at all. Crazy to say this was coming from the president of a major trucking company. Now a days it seems pretty rare to meet anybody you work for as a truck driver other than the people at orientation.
