well i've been looking for advice on starting a new career in the trucking industry by placing a blog on here back in march--- with no comments or advice in return ,--I guess a person has to be in a elite group or you all are just a bunch of a--holes that think you are better than everyone else that is trying to provide for their family and asking advice from people you think would understand and be kind enough to lend a helping hand and a little knowledge. I guess there's none to be found here :biggrin_25510::scratch:

Honestly,if you are that thin skinned, perhaps trucking will not be a good career choice. It could very well be that not a single individual can post regarding your situation or that the right one has yet to read your post.

Main thing is to not panic and/or get uptight.trucking is not at all whatever it is you heard it may be and there are those of us that will provide help whenever possible.DO NOT expect that from the new breed of driver such as yourself however. You guys are taught to use an electronic log,to block fuel pumps and take up two parking spots in order to shut down for your 10 hours because your truck is about to shut down on you, and to utilize a qualcom for correspondence with your mega company as you pilot your assigned 62 mph truck in the 70 mph middle lane thereby impeding a real driver's work day as he,or she, works his way around your slow arse and then on to the next slow truck driver to do the same thing all over again.read and comprehend the signs reading"SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT" and we will all get along.Learn to properly park that slow truck too please.

See how the negativity works? Please do not pass it on you soon to be driver.
best of luck to you regardless and I sincerely wish the very best for you in the transporation industry.

Many truckers are a holes but they don't think they are better than you its just been very tough for most of them lately and the new drivers are blamed, rightly so I many cases, for almosrpt everything.

The vast majority of what is on this site is just like it is on the CB "noise" be careful seeking advice!

The large companies that will most likely be hiring you all seem to be the same from what i hear ......work you to death for almost no money and little home time.
I've never understood why it appeaks to ANYONE. Maybe its just that people get burned out with their life and think this will be fun .....its not its #### long hours and your in for a hard rispde many times

From one noob to another...posting in your blog is all fine and good, but no one can read your blog, if they don't know you exist! You have to be active out here in the forums, and then reference your blog. Better still, lurk more and read though the threads, as any questions you (or I) have, has more than likely already been answered a dozen times over already!

Welcome to the forums and good luck in your career.

ETA: Now that i know you exist...

So I went to check out your blog...

    WTH?

So what is your status now? Are you in school, haven't started yet, etc...

There should be ample amount of companies to choose from in your area. You need to decide what to aim for though. Are you thinking of driving reefer, dryvan, flatbed, tanker, heavy haul etc... As far as regional, sometimes as a newbie it maybe a little tough landing a regional or local gig right off the bat but if you go with an over the road company and put in your time, once you have some experience and gain some seniority at the company then maybe they will have a local or regional position come open and you would be able to jump in. I wouldn't however go to school with this being your only plan. Be prepared to drive over the road and be away from home for 4-6 weeks at a time so if it comes down to that you won't mind doing it. If this is something you are absolutely against then I wouldn't waste your time and money on going through school.

Take your time and do your homework. Make a list of your wants and needs and start researching companies. Once you have narrowed your search down to a couple dozen or so then start calling recruiters and see what more they have to offer.

    Good luck man!
