    Looks like I'm starting Monday!

Went through No Worker left behind in 4 1/2 weeks, got funded and my school already called me saying, "be there by 6:30 on the first day"

So now I'm gonna be done before Christmas!

(now all I gotta do is find that mythical trucking company that is courteous and fair to their drivers, that has plenty of miles, but allows all the hometime u need... that pays newbies .50/mile plus layover, detention, lumper and even sprained pinky fees! LOL!)

I don't drive anymore, so I don't have to worry about it. Got kids, so don't do it anyway.

What I meant by "hoops" is all of the tests (career assessment, work keys, etc.) we had to take (easy for me, but wife is Puerto Rican, and proudly butchers 2 languages....real stress for her). Just trying to get a career manager assigned to her was a nightmare. She is very tenacious, and did not quit. I remember working for the state, and watching the same lazy SOB's making the same money we were, and not pulling NEAR the weight we were. One of the big reasons we left. We're anxious to start driving, as we'll get exactly out of driving what we put into it. We're both extremely hard workers, and look forward to seeing this beautiful nation of ours.

I've said it lots of times to friends before about Michigan's economy, and the need for our state to diversify away from everything related to auto manufacturing. Very short-sighted on our leaders' parts, IMHO. Like several members have said, freight will always be moving, to some extent. I am in hopes that Aunt Jenny (Granholm) will truly be able to get through some of the alternative energy projects she proposes, and am particularly interested in algae diesel. I truly believe that is a very large part of our oil-addiction rehab.

I had a business in Muskegon, and owned a building there. I lost it, and the business is closed. I am watching the town dry up and die a slow, painful death. Sad, but true. I am anxious to get my foot out the door.

BTW, the Puerto Rican finally got her career manager assigned Monday, she got her interview Tuesday, and we already had 3 pre-hires in hand. She started her process about 6 weeks after me, and will probably receive her voucher first. Not to pat myself on the back, but her career manager really took care of business, and got busy fast-tracking her through.....reminded me of me. Have a task, get it done.

Regarding the Indiana thing, I really believe that Granholm wants our state working again (need the tax base.....big time). Having people that want to implement those plans is a different animal. Governement employees are lazy, and don't think that will ever change. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if you want that funding for your class, ride that career manager like a rented mule. YOU have to go out and get it.

We'll see you on the road.......I'm sure of that.

Oh, and have a happy Thanksgiving.

I went through the NWLB program. Within a few weeks I had everything finished ( i.e - orientation, meeting with my caseworker, various " workshop " classes, and a few tests ). My caseworker told me, " It's all about how fast you want to get through this program ... we can get you through here in a few weeks if you work hard enough ". So, with that being said, I worked my ### off ! :biggrin_255: Everything, for the most part, is pretty easy. The tests can be somewhat tricky ... but not by much. With all that being said, I wish you all the best of luck ! Have a good one ! :)
