The most important this is are you gonna come out of that school with a level of proficiency. Do they have instructors who are really interested in teaching you the trade and making sure you know your sh-t or are they more concerned about getting you a loan for school or using your gi bill money to pay for it. And also shoving you off on some bottom feeder company who's biggest goal is to get you into a lease purchase program , so they can really screw you.

comallard, You need to decide just what your goals are. Just starting out it will be difficult , simply because of the number of avenues available...reefer, flatbed, tanker , van, bed-bugging, dump-bed, etc. OTR of some sort will get you the experience needed to be able to make that choice. Some drivers love OTR, some don't...I did it for about 3 years and then got lucky to land a dream job where I could drive, and be home every night , make enough money for my wife to be a stay a home Mom and raise our kids, and still live a great life. Its your oyster pal...how you shuck depends on what YOU want....

    Good Luck

    Thanks for the input!
If you go on OTR for a year and have a clean record, what are the chances of landing most jobs that are out there? Do you need more time OTR?

I would say it probably depends on the company. I've seen some companies that want 2-3 yrs OTR experience, some require a year, as well as others that require 6 months. Have also seen a few that wanted only 4 months.
