I would definitely get the water pump and air comp replaced at the same time. My air comp lasted about 100,000 miles after rebuild and my water pump was about 60,000 after rebuild. The extra downtime is just more lost revenue. If you dont have the radiator or CAC replaced then have them tested. Im still using my same radiator and CAC but am looking at a new CAC. I did have them replace clutch and resurface flywheel at the same time. I think it was money well spent.

I'm confused why you paid extra to have the clutch and flywheel done while doing an inframe. It didn't save you anything and they are complete separate jobs. You paid for a separate job that didn't necessary need to be done just because it was in the shop? Going off this theroy why didn't you have a new rear ends installed or new u-joints or new kingpins?

There was a million miles on the clutch and didnt see a need for sometime down the road to have extra downtime to replace it. How long would it last? It was already in the shop and that downtime was planned, its not much more time to get it done. As stated I got 100, 000 more out of my air compressor and 60,00 out of my water pump but could have had it done at the time, while it was down anyway and not had the extra downtime which is lost revenue that i will never get back. I also had them replace lots of hoses and all the clamps that went with them as I didnt want to go down the road and be nickel and dimed to death.

I should have had my CAC tested and inspected at the time but didnt see the need as it was working fine (or I thought) and have come to find out its not 100% so Im not getting the fuel mileage I should be which is extra bucks and now will be extra downtime and more money. I will have the radiator checked out at the same time though while Im there. Me personally, have found out that everytime I try to save a dollar in maintenance, I spend a thousand . Not literally but it sure seems like it. Like my air compressor, I could have spent 140 less on the Bendix one but decided that it was 140 well spent to get the proven better compressor and hope it lasts another million one hundred thousand miles.

Make sure you replace the oil pump and the water pump while they got it down. If it has a internal oil cooler replace that too. These are not normally done at Cummins with their in frame package.

    Mommas_money_maker Thanks this.
