So if I understand all of this right.... check your truck out first, then if you want more, just get bigger injectors, and run the proper trims rather than changing trim code on smaller injectors.

Yes, that's the best way. "Hot codes" are just a cheap trick if you don't have the money for real power.

from my experience. Wrong injector coding may give you some HP gaine, but not like recalibration. The problem is not in toqrq limiting, but in boost pressure limiting. That's why you may get reach fiel:air mixtore, some extra HP, but smoke and bad fuel milage.

About engine recalibration. Cummins assembli engines with parts list CPL that lets you use 2-3 calibration, for example 400-430-475 HP, becouse of different turbines, pistons, and some other parts. With Volvo D12D/F engines the situation differs. The use lower compression ratio on 460/480HP engines comparing with 400/420HP. From 460 (465 US HP) they use dual pistons with iron head, on lower HP engines (340/380/420) they use aluminium cast pistons that fail on more powerfull engines (seltested issue).

Fuel pressure sensor is for diagnostics only. Engine keeps runing with low fuel pressure fault code but stalls when injectord do not get fuel really. Engine protection activates with coolant temperature, coolant level, low oil pressure, low oil level and high cranckase pressure. That is all.

if trim codes are not good. What does a pittsburg box tell the ecm. It sure seems like its a pressure box. so all it would do is tell it to send more fuel. something like the pitts box. but does the pitts box know the stock codes or can it be used with the 5252's or other changed trim codes?

The PP box dosent tell ECM anything. all PP box does is hold the injector open longer by intercepting the signal from ECM to injector. it does cause retarded injector timing but thats not a good thing. its not the magic box Bruce wants all to believe. there is a great thread on here by Far Call titled
injector codes for Bullhauler. alot to grasp but explains everything about injector codes and why not to change codes with numbers pulled out of

The injectors that Cummins use get flowed to be able to pass a certain amount of fuel per hour. If they do not meet the spec they can "flow" the injector with an abrasive material and run it until it meets the spec. The trim codes that you see on the injectors on a cummins really don't have that much meaning if what I was told was correct. On a cummins you just get a new calibration until you hit your limit for that "family" of engine like Pablo-UA said.

Scanias don't even have codes, injectors are manufactured so accurately.

Scania use HPI, no electric valves in injectors!

It is like ISX, Scania shares injectors, solenoid valves and many other parts with ISX. Sometimes CM570 ECMs were used.

    So WHAT TO CALIBRATE?

DD and Volvo are with 2 coil injectors by delphi. They need calibration
