I think every shipper should have an on site scale. Doesn't matter if its just a little teeny one.

The only problem with a lot of shipper scales is that they'll only give a gross weight, and if you ask them to read off your weights as you roll another set of axles onto the scale, they tend to get crabby about it, real quick.

I will say this about that Idaho officer. She was very nice and professional about the whole thing. When I finally had my weights right (2 more trips across the scale) she brought my legal weight printout to me.

The axle scale will be installed in my dash ASAP. There's a little company in Sherwood, OR out in the middle of a potato field called Right Weigh. It's run by one of the IRT drivers...who just bought a new truck and then retired this year. The entire operation is in a garage behind his house. Anyway, I won't be getting an over drive axle ticket again.

I'm just happy it was Idaho and not Oregon.

thats probably the best money you ever spent. I love my suspension gauge, i've gotten REALLY good. When I know my load is 40,000+ I just slide my tandems to where i know i'm at 33,000 on the drives and i'm always good on the tandems since i have SS's on the tractor if im 33k there i'm way light on the tandems.

Once you get it down you'll love that gauge!

Or Alabama.. That ticket would have been in $500+ range. I was 800 pounds over on my drives and it cost me $299.00
