    did nearly 2 years with schneider about 12 years ago. while that's not very recent i'll tell you it's not a bad company/starting package overall. Look into NE Regional and OTR as better options. The Philly, NJ, NY area is a little rough for truckers of course the center of it being NYC. OTR drivers received $50 to go into NYC, but I highly doubt that pay is for that account as their dedicated accounts have different pay premiums. I drove OTR, Dedicated, Teamed twice, and trained in NE Regional but didn't like it. Your recruiter is simply a recruiter and really doesn't know but one of the main sells of dedicated is predictable. You'll propably deal with like a handful of stores and get to know everything like where to park and when to arrive and how to get around traffic, etc,etc. The pay doesn't sound very appealing but for no experience i'd still build the experience at least on it or another account. Here are all the factors in a trucking job:
    * Company or O/O (lots of drawbacks to O/O if you're leasing on to a carrier but also benefits)
    * Pay CPM.
    * Short haul premiums, Lay over pay, detention pay, multi-stop (every company has their own rates and one can make up for another). Paid vacation time, minimum guarantees, bonuses.
    * average length of haul, destinations, live unload/loads or drob n hook. is it "no touch freight"
    * Truck age, equipment, APUs? cruise speeds? Do you take it home? is it slip-seating (can place another driver in it).
    * Benefits

    usually most companies will excel in one thing and slack another, schneider did honestly do well in all of these, UNDER promised and over delivered on the following:
    * dedicated accounts and mileage (at least with my experience).
    * Pay CPM short haul premiums.
    * no touch freight (haven't touched freight the entire 2 years) and at least 75% drop and hook across all the accounts.
    * slip seating (not once the entire 2 years).

    They also allow you to switch accounts every so often so you can try a bunch. They did slack on equipment as far as APUs and such but that is improving, and their pay premiums for non-dedicated accounts are really good. Any further questions please ask. Oh and back to the recruiter, see if you can speak to that account's DBL. that person will basically be your driver manager and should tell you bluntly what to expect, he simply knows it way better than a recruiter. Good luck, hope my response is not too late.

    Schneider don’t allow intelligent life forms in the truck.

    I went with schneider for local job. I had same questions like you, because recruiter will tell you only good stuff. So I asked them if something will be not right, I can quit anytime and they say yes.
    I have been at orientation and there was few things I wanted to do different way, not like other drivers.
    So there is training manager, and whatever you need, you will find him and ask him.
    Thats exactly what I did, and everything was exactly how I wanted.
    Sign in bonus is paying every 45 days 10%-15%-25%-50%. So you need to work 180 days to get whole bonus.
    My local job is usually planning for 10 hours, but sometimes I work 6 hours, and sometimes 12.
    My local account get paid as daily rate, which is not good, but I need experience and then get out

    I am driving NJ/NY/PA and new york is bad, north jersey is very bad and very tight with a lot of low bridges. I hate if I have to go to that area, but just take your time and be safe.

    My local account sucks about equipment we have 2014-2016 freightliners, they are day cab/automatic and with a lot of problems. They will fix it quick, but usually something show up. Sometimes I need to go to the service three times a week and thats a lot.
    I just dont like how they are promoting they have 3 years old and best equipment...because thats a lie
