I grew up in this industry and it is the same as any other in one aspect, the corporate rules for survival are, #1 steam-line payroll,#2,#3,#4 vary due to circumstance but marketing is way down on the list ! You only blow your own horn when you have the extra "air" to spare, it's a survival thing !
Good Luck and Keep the Faith, no-one can take that.

That newsletter said not a single thing about laying off drivers, not even that drivers had to take a week off. You people took it entirely out of context. Re-read it and see where it says on any given line of it "drivers". With the exception of the 1 cent per mile reduction in pay. But I dont know about you, that one cent wouldnt really bother me. 4 or 5 cents yeah I would be concerned. 10 cents, no way in hell id stick around. For once those office people have to feel the effects of the economy instead of smiling in their drivers faces knowing they are "safe". I actually commend Swift on this. For taking some action and direction internally instead of totally focusing it and directing it all on the drivers shoulders. Thumbs up to the big wigs there. 401K, I did notice that too. Not a very big deal to me. I am 25. Might die tomorrow, never know. Not like I could be buried with my money if I did die tomorrow so why care about that right now? Company match, psssh. You wouldnt realize any of it until you had 20-30 years in it anyway at their 3% match. Bonus, never got one when I worked there. Could really care less for one too. That is "supplemental income" subject to higher taxes. Why put more of my money in uncle sams pocket. He digs deep enough in mine as it is already. Word up!

LMAO, yeah no doubt. Will be odd to see two swifts running up a hill and staying side by side. Will be normal to see one or the other rolling in reverse down the #### thing! -
ALL COMPANIES ARE DOING THE SAME THING...ITS 1 CENT NOW WILL BE 2 CENTS LATER AND SO ON ....AND AS FOR THE 401K..YOU MAY NOT NOTICE IT NOW BUT YOU WILL LATER..THATS YOUR RETIREMENT .....I THINK THATS A HUGE DEAL....YOU YOUNGER DRIVERS DONT REALIZE THERE STEALING YOUR FUTURE SO PSSSH FOR NOW BUT REALITY WILL KICK IN LATER IN LIFE AND YOU WILL NOTICE IT
-
Yeah LATER IN LIFE. 3% wont reflect a whole lot for at least 20-30 years. And thats if you really are dumpin the money in it. I am not worried about it right now. I am 25. Not sure how old you are, your thing-muh-jig doesnt say. I will think about being 70 when I am closer to it. If I make it closer.

I would be willing to bet swift drivers never see the "bonuses" or get their penny back. Just doesn't happen.

You could be right. They certainly wouldnt be obligated to pay it legally. Not when you kept working and knew thats what you were going to paid from that point on. Ethically, yes, they should. But this is trucking. Most companies want you to throw ethics out the window. Right along with the logbook.
