The biggest problem right now is that the market and rates change so fast that it's hard to count on numbers holding up,...
Yeah I got a dedicated broker. Says he can keep me busy. References check out ok, called 2 other O/O's who go through him, both have 3 trucks. They tell me having the fleet is difficult but that if I'm doing the work myself in my own truck and not paying 3 drivers benefits, pay, and trying to make something as well I should be golden.
Snipped Who did you get insurance through? What is the policy limit? Did it go through you or another driver? Details....
Hey my policy is all through National Casualty. I don't know what a limit is? If you mean my coverage, I have whatever is required. $1M liability, $75,000 cargo (the amount required by my broker). I have damage coverage for the value of my truck which I think we put as $17,500. I also have uninsured/underinsured motorist for $100k in case a car is at fault and they aren't covered enough. I'm the only one on the insurance. That whole adding another driver thing I was talking about before was just because the bank financing for the truck was wanting that since I have no experience in the business. Still haven't done anything with that and I'm happy enough with the lot financing arrangement.
did you get that truck yet? how did you go have them fix it or price reduction? when do you start for eclipse? hope its soon theres nothing like your first pay check with your own truck.what happens if you want to go more then 5oo miles with your insurance?mine cost $7100.00 for $1mil liab $100,000 cargo and phy damage, also inc a trailer interchange deal so i can swap trailers. I can't finish the authority process with tags and taxes until I get my MC approved, and needed insurance to do that, so I'm looking at a couple of weeks at least before I can be on the road. The insurance guy said that they would pay a settlement beyond the 500... ONCE. The broker said they weren't too particular about the insurance details as long as I had the cargo and was running legal. I should pretty legitimately be somewhere in that range though most of the time. NC is a good central spot for their area. The dealer is still waiting (dragging his feet) on getting an answer back from his mechanic (Butch) as to what they can/will fix out of it. We have a couple weeks to get it worked out though, and I'm confident it will be agreeable. Worst case scenario they give me the truck at 15k and I put the 6k in repairs on a credit card. I doubt that will happen, I'm sure they will at least do the injector, and I'm hoping the synchronizer as well, since that absolutely has to be done before my first trip out. I'm not in a huge hurry to take possession of the truck, I have no where to put it! You bet, I can't WAIT to get that first settlement. I'm nervous too though. I can get the truck to the delivery ok, but if I can't get someone to go with me, I'm going to probably offer the guy behind me $50 to come supervise my first dump and guide me. Do this maybe a couple times. I've been watching vids on youtube of the end dump. Those guys know when to pull forward, raise it more, when it's done... and doesnt seem to be anyone telling them what's what behind the rig.
I just spent about 4 hrs looking for loads, avg laod 1.25 mile any other of you poor ######## finding the same BS? Id jump for joy to find a 1.50 or 1.75 per mi load on the getloaded board!!!!!
Yea, I noticed the rate dropping like crazy about seven months ago when I was leased to my friend. But don't feel bad even the rates on Schneiders load board have dropped about $0.20 a mile in the past three weeks.
Tell me about it I just got a load from utah coming back to cali for a dollar a mile and my other truck is dead heading all the way back...We are averaging about 1.30 a mile on loads right now
How do you guys make it on a $1.00-$1.30 pr mile seriously? What is it costing u a mile to run? Isnt it about $1.50 a mile say if u want health and dental insurance an all the things your suppose to pay to run legal? Just askin!
