If I had to predict I would say this coming winter is going to be another tough one and your going to see companys downsizing tring to decide weather to run or park and alot companys will fail brokers and carriers just like last winter. From what I saw last winter the rates droped so low at 1 point the only way to make a dollar at all was to own your truck outrite and drive it yourself and if you were lucky u might make it to the spring with the hope for better times. I hope im wrong but I didnt see a big enough jump this spring to come close to the hell of the past winter and im seeing signs of it starting to head back the other way off the spring boom.

Well it's official... AGAIN. Virginia sucks. Don't they ever get a day off???

Sunday night at 10pm I get a weightlifting award at the first scale. 800 lbs over on my tandems, fixed and don't move. Said if I "bumped" the load with the brakes I'd get a wreckless driving ticket. Nothing I could do.

Only $75 though, and didn't come out and inspect anything OR ask for logs (phew!)

1 cent per pound over. Only $8 for being overweight... the rest was scale and processing fees, civil penalty etc.

You need to get a spread axle, you can get up to (in CA. anyway) 39,000 on them. Plus, the front axle on the trailer will take some weight off of the drivers. I think I have seen a few out on the road.

My 5th wheel slider is broke, if i did not have the spread I would have been overweight on the drivers a few times.
