"He did offer to get me a motel room for the two nights out of his own pocket"
So, the dispatcher is admitting that he dropped the ball here. Must be detention pay or some type of compensation. -
Hey Pharm, I've spent the past few days catching up on your thread. Sounds like you've went through he77 but managed to land on your feet. Hope things are going well for ya. I sold my landscaping business and went back to driving a truck in August.

Thanks. As for the landscaping, I was too burned out to do it anymore. I'd rather drive than do anything else. Happy holidays!

I toyed with the idea of buying a used $8,000 truck, getting my authority, and hauling for Eclipse in the Winter. My plan was to drive in the Winter and operate my landscaping business in the Summer, using that time to make repairs on my truck so it would be ready for the next Winter and so on. I looked at some different trucks, checked into getting my authority, and even called Eclipse to visit with them about things. I eventually came to the conclusion that I just didn't have the capitol to get everything started. I could have handled buying the truck, but the insurance is what kept me from being able to put it into play. After I sold my landscaping business I went back to driving. I had pulled end dumps and lowboys before. Right now I'm with a company pulling a pneumatic dry bulk tanker and a van once in awhile. Landscaping went down the crapper when the economy went to $$$$. Clients were dropping left and right, weekly accounts started wanting it done bi-weekly, etc. I finally said to he11 with it and got out while I could still sell off my equipment for a reasonable amount. Anyway, it's good to be back in the seat again and things are looking good for 2010.

I don't know if I should ask this question in Pharm's thread (kind of off the subject), but since there's a good group of guys in here I'm going too. Do you guys carry a copy/fax/scanner machine in your trucks along with your laptops? If you do, how do you power it, and do you also make a copy of every load you haul? Every load, meaning the paperwork for each load. I didn't know if this was a good idea to do for your personal records (in case of problems with pay or you don't think your paycheck is what it should be, etc. Thanks.

The name of the game is CYA (cover your #####) always make a copy of your bills. That way there if paperwork gets `LOST` you have a copy of signed bills to resubmit if need be.
