I thought he had a radius but he must have upgraded his policy or..., I think they told him they'd pay for the first accident outside the radius so maybe he's just going w/ that.
-
Actually that is enticing but when I googled them I couldn't find them on the internet. Which state are they in? And I wonder what would happen if I was making payments, it broke down in a different state, I might not even be able to afford getting it back to them. Thats my biggest worry...getting something with 4 grand down and it breaking down with the first month or two. Company driving is looking better and better every day.slabrunner Thanks this.

a user on here (i think it's jasonrock) started in Cali and had a radius restriction, but since cali is so big it really didn't hinder him any.. he said after some months of running, progressive decreased his premium, didn't mention anything bout the mileage radius though.. i hope that's the case for the radius thing, it only sticks with you for a few months and then they drop it. that'll be nice.slabrunner Thanks this.

make sure you have the truck inspected and dynoed befor you buy, have all items fixed befor you get on the road and make sure if your not mechanicly inclined you have a bank roll for mino repairs, while i was out i had several things go wrong,i was able to fix,but do your home work rates are down, its not worth trying to make a payment and just eating beannie weinnies, remember you must make atleast 2 bucks a mile to break even and draw some kind of check,,,if the numbers dont work dont do it just for the sake of being able to say you own a truck

I did have a premium decrease of about 300 bucks a month after six months, however the radius was still 500 miles. I don't think progressive insures over that mileage. But for newbee's with no recent experience or none at all, I believe it is one of the few insurance companies that will insure you. Its all based upon RECENT VERIFIABLE experience.

Jason, you still making out ok with that radius limit though? i was doin research and the quote i got from Progressive was 17000 for the year, i think i'ma just have it put in my dads name since he's been driving so long and then just list myself as a driver under him. hopefully that'll help the premium.
-
$17,000 for the year?
-
yep, that's what it was when she quoted me at my current age, but since i'm not lookin to get it until Sept Oct, i'll be 25, and at that age the quote dropped to 14 and some change...but she said it might change again once i get a CDL... it's kinda a waiting and research game now.. Geico told me a no bs policy of 16000 without checking my DMV record, or my age.. i just gave them a truck and trailer i wanted to insure and that's what came out.

$2.00 a mile to break even? No offense Dino, but now I know why you aren't trucking anymore. I do agree completely with you though in the fact that one must do a ton of homework and make sure the numbers work before taking the leap.
