I'd like to see flatbed rates and loads pick up again. You know it's weird how you get settled on a certain kind of trucking once you start with it. After I got my CDL I applied exclusively to flatbed companies, Maverick, TMC, McElroy, Roehl flat and a couple others. It was really all I wanted to do. I can't really compare the two. Hoppers can be hard and dirty work for sure, but not every time... maybe 1 in 4 loads are a challenge. Last monday I woke up with TERRIBLE back pain, like debilitating and I can't pinpoint how it happened. A week later I'm still limping a bit and stiff. I can't imagine if I had to throw 100 lb tarps this week. It's another thing to think about since we're on our own. There is no sick pay!

I hired a VA attorney to handle my driving award from last month. They said something about getting a receipt for having something replaced in my speedometer. We'll see how it goes.

Monday I put the truck in the shop for the first oil change/maintenance. Turned out I was there all day and got a nice $760 bill which included a modest bumper repair (bent back in shape with forklift) and somehow I had old water in my front tandem so it had to be drained and regreased/oiled. Bill was about 3 times what I had planned to spend that day... it just keeps coming.

that's not a blind side back that's a sight side back. And an easy one at that. I'd hate to see what you would do in them hospitals I pulled into for 7 years.

there is no money in hoppers. it's what farmers do when they aren't farming. meaning they also have other income. Even at that you'd be doing okay if ya stoped tearing stuff up.

the aerosol window cleaner in the spray can works best for rubber floors. it foams up a little and raises the dirt up so you can just wipe it down with a rag.

If anyone wants to know what some of the rates are in your area (or other area) on internet truckstop shoot me a PM (or if you cant PM, post here, and I will PM my email to you) with your city, radius and type of work (or all). It make take awhile for me to get back (busy as heck) but I promise I will.

I may have misspoke. It wasn't my blind side. Only blind in the sense that you can't see the trailer after the 90 behind the silos. It would be a lot like a 90 at a truck stop I suppose except in this case you also have to get the hopper aligned over the grate at a certain angle as well.

I've not spoken to any farmers who also happen to own hoppers, but none of the 60 or so hopper pullers I've chatted with also farm, it has been a full-time gig for them. I don't know any rich hopper pullers that's for sure. Again though I'm hiding out in hopper world while competition is thick for the conventional 3 trailer types. It's like rooting for whatever team is winning at the moment :yes2557: I may switch out when it's no longer the most steady work I've found.

Quit stepping in my oatmeal!!! LOL

Great vid. Glad you're still doing well and haven't lost your sense of humor (of course, if it was attached to your truck, you'd have lost it a long time ago! :biggrin_25525:).
