Instant O/O and Load boards

Hey, my first day solo, I almost got hit by a 50 mph freight train, so you're doing waaaaay better than me.

To this day, when my wife wants to get me going, she quotes from 'O, Brother' -- "The only good thing you did for the gals was getting hit by that train. Blooey! Nothin left. Just a grease spot on the L&N."

 

Last night while, sleeping in my truck at 1 am. all the interior lights come on. My truck was not running and key was off. It was raining very hard. My truck has 6 interior dome lights. 2 of them are in the sleeper directly over the bunk. I could not get them shut off. I thought about taking out the fuse but,it was raining very hard and I was still half asleep. I started the truck and pulled my sleeping bag over my head and tried to get some more sleep. What I think happened is rain water leaked through the door seal and shorted out the switch in the door. Once it quite raining for a couple of hours the dome lights started working as they should.

Dude- you have no idea how lucky you have been.

 

I was sitting at a freightliner dealership that had like 10 cascadia day cabs waiting to go in the shop. It had just started pouring when I asked what was recalled on all those trucks to get them put out of service all at the same time.

One of the mechanics said "Just wait ... you'll see" Less than 2 min after he made his smirky remark, the first one started on its own ... within another 20 min, all of them were running.

Seems that water seeps down behind the fuse box and shorts the ignition relay ... and walla, a cascadia with a mind of its own.

Takin the whole fire wall apart, putting a shield in around the fuse box .. and using a tube of silicone supposedly fixes the problem

 

BAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAA!!!!!!

 

lmfao i would flip if i seen any truck start up on its own. It reminds of the movie Maximum overdrive

 

That was a great movie.

 

We had an 82 359 that started on it's own one night. The battery wires rubbed through on the frame rail and arced across the solinoid. Unfortunatly the starter didn't stop cranking. That was a nearly new truck also

 

I did it again yesterday. I'm just getting the hang of driving in 2 dimensions as it is, but that 3rd dimension got me yesterday. Pulled onto a scale to weigh out, lined up just fine but the scaffolding next to the scale where they scoop out a sample grabbed my open tarp and pulled the whole assembly back 6 inches bending all the hinge/clamps in the process and putting a couple nice tears in the tarp.

Sitting at Great Dane now, they're back there beating and welding and patching... can't wait for the bill.
