Well anyway I just took I-74 west from Indianapolis to I-39 North. It was decent running nonstop.

The cotton was freshly harvested and moist. I heard it was a real bummer getting it out. I slept through the whole thing though, HwyPilot took care of it :biggrin_2559::biggrin_25513:

Got that same load from WI to VA that my truck broke down under last time. I'll let you know if I make it past Kentucky this time!

This truck has been really odd, it idles like it's going to shut off any second, then next time purrs like a kitten. When it's bad enough smoke comes out when you accel to land in a cloud on the road behind you. Needs looked at. We're still thinking EGR. Probably going to try to disable it sometime soon.

Disabling the EGR is super simple on that Cummins motor, and you will kick yourself in the ### for not doing it sooner.

When you pull up the diagnostics in the dash and look at fault codes, do you have any active ones? A bad EGR valve will USUALLY say fault; PID 27.

Do you ever have to add coolant into that truck? What color is the smoke? Is there evidence of blowing small amounts of what appears to be oil out the exhaust? These are all signs of a bad EGR cooler. If that is the problem, get out your checkbook.
