I’m also new in this business in Georgia. My current insurance is with Progressive. I haven’t been able to find an agent in Georgia though. My current agent is in Idaho. Would you pm me the agent contact info you are referring to who is in Florida? He might be able to help me with a lower insurance cost in Georgia, with Geico. Thank you.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

My goal is to haul vehicles only in Georgia for sometime, maybe two years. Then haul interstate. Currently I have a truck and a trailer; of course not sounding very professional. But I haven’t been able to afford rollback bed trucks. Would insurance premiums be less if I use a rollback truck? My challenge is insurance cost. I would appreciate if anyone could provide good insurance agents contact info please. Thank you in advance.

Progressive is NOT your only option. I went with Great West as soon as I got my authority. I paid about 20K my first year. I'm down to 15K and I'm about to finish my third year. By the way, a few brokers will shun you if you have Progressive. I don't really know why. Maybe someone else can chime in about that.

I don't know about that. I looked into Geico about two weeks ago because I heard the same thing. They quoted me $22k, which is $7k HIGHER than what I pay with Great West. And Great West is probably top 3 in the industry. And the funny thing is that I've had Geico for my personal vehicle for about 8 or 9 years. So I can't understand why they tried to gouge me.

I seriously doubt that quote is accurate. Once they run your DOT/MC number and see that you're new, that quote will jump to $20k. The exact same thing happened to me when I started. As a matter of fact, I posted that somewhere on this forum when I first started out. Someone else told me the exact same thing I'm telling you. Lo and behold, he was right! If I'm wrong, please post what your final official quote is once you get it. It would be a helpful reference point for others who want to start out.

All depends upon where you are in the country. Progressive is the only one writing policies for new entrants in Florida. Not long before I got my authority no one would write a policy for a new entrant in Florida.

What you pay is also based upon where you are. Low risk area vs high risk areas are going to produce starkly different premiums.

From what I read and I can’t remember exactly but it was something about Geico doesn’t share or collect data from whatever data base..
Basically they didn’t give a crap about my $250k in loss runs.

That's crazy that the loss runs didn't affect you. Good for you. I'm out of Vegas which shouldn't be much different than Florida. I think that maybe Geico doesn't insure here in Nevada, and they used a third party to quote me. That's the only reason I can think of for quoting me $22k. I haven't had a ticket in 15 years, my FICO is over 750, and my CDL has no points or violations. I've had 3 inspections and passed them all. Something doesn't register.

$20k was what I started off paying Progressive in the beginning. Two weeks into my brand new authority my new 21 389 and fresh from the factory GD trailer were stolen. Then struck by lightning in WA ..hit a mule deer in SD etc.

Last year I paid around $50k to progressive and then my renewal in November jumped to $53k.
Last year I had the cash so I paid it all at once to save on their ridiculous financing fees. Figured I’d give it another year and see what happens.. I got lenders on my equipment so I really didn’t have a choice..no one would touch me at this point.

This year I said no way, I’m not doing it again and was just going to shut it down and be done with it. That’s when this local agent contacted me and got me the Geico exact policy for $26k less than Progressive.

My agent in NY couldn’t find anything else, NASTC couldn’t find anything and another local agency couldn’t find anything either.

I ended up dropping progressive on our personal vehicles also and saved quite a bit going to Geico.

Trying to find homeowners insurance cheaper than what we pay progressive but not finding anything yet

I had them on everything and now they just agitated me enough to dump them completely.

I got spotless credit and haven’t gotten even a parking ticket in 40 years.. I’m also kind of embarrassed to admit that I have absolutely no clue what points are..I see everyone talking about them but I really don’t understand!

Will pm you a link to their website, Don’t know if they write policies for Georgia or not but they will probably be able to give you a referral if nothing else.

The guy I went through isn’t responding to texts so just call their office.

    Good luck
