I've been in both places. I pay insurance now and they get 5% for paperwork.
I've had insurance bought and they received 25%. I don't care to pay the insurance. Its just a tax deduction.

I’m trying to find an answer my self....
new driver. Drove for this person for 3 months and finally told the person I’m not driving for you anymore. However they said that I owe them the $2000 insurance deposit that they paid to get me going. Please help if I need to hire a lawyer. Is it legal for him to charge me it? I also never signed any documentsRideandrepair Thanks this. -

I would see the $1500 upfront as a red flag. It’s common for Companies to require an escrow account, deducted weekly, once running, till it hits a certain amount. Asking for funds upfront? Never heard of that. I never cared for escrow accounts.I can’t blame them, a $1000 escrow could cover a deductible for a claim. Fair enough. Seems Companies always try to find a way to keep it when you quit. Legal or not. Red Flag!!
