Do any of you company drivers carry on the job liability insurance? I understand that the company has the deep pockets and will take the brunt of a lawsuit resulting from an accident but there is nothing to stop an ambulance chaser from suing the driver in addition to the company is there?

Short answer is that if you are a company driver, the company covers it, and most courts will hold the company responsible and not the driver. If you are completely negligent maybe you could be sued as well, but that would involve crystal meth and 12 pack of Budweiser while driving, before a court would allow a plaintiff to go after a driver themselves. To answer your question, yes, a company driver is protected by company insurance, and no, an ambulance chaser cant go after you personally.

    Not entirely true.

Anyone can be sued for any reason. Just being there is cause enough. A civil lawsuit can be initiated at any time, from there whether or not there is any bearing on the suit will be fought out, won, or lost. Still taking the driver's time to attend the court, and given that there are and can be a numerous amount of "continuances" , can eat away at a driver's paycheck.
