    Greetings...
    1) Keep your Truck or Car in "good working condition" ( All lights, Tires, No Trash on top of Dash, (visibility purposes). Keep your Tag, registration & Insurance Up dated.
    2) Drive like a Professional...
    3) If an intervention is inminnent, Stop, Think and Ask. If the Officer is right., BE HUMBLE, if the Officer is WRONG, follow Protocol. Go in front of the Judge and MAKE YOUR CASE.
4)Do Not call the Officer a Lier, Do Not raise your Voice, Do not Threaten him or her. YOU WILL LOOSE the argument and your day will turn into a nightmare. You will have a "Cop "Beehive" all over you ready to Sting you real bad.
Be humble, be humble and be humble.
    Happy Trails...!!!!!!

In a past life I did software consulting and was driving home at about 2:30 in the morning. I had a rear taillight out, and when a car with a headlight out pulled up behind me I breathed a sigh of relief.

Until the light turned green and as I pulled away from the intersection the bubble gum lights came on.. ####!

It was a local cop. He did write a ticket for me, and when I pointed out the bad headlight he said “yeah, I have to get that fixed one of these days”.

I actually got waved over on horseback a couple of years ago by a Sheriff's Deputy on the little country road by the farm. I was riding from one pasture to another on our Percheron draft horse.

He pulled me over for two reasons - to ask about the rather enormous horse and the rifle in my saddle scabbard and the pistol on my hip. Apparently, even in Texas this combo is unusual for a woman on a Tuesday morning.

Once I explained that I was tracking a herd of hogs who had been harassing livestock and injured two calves, he wished me luck, took a photo of the Percheron and went on his way.

I can totally see why he stopped me and I can also see how that could have skated sideways quick if I had gotten snide or been "outraged" or some such nonsense.

On that one, in a car, I would have called 911. Headlight out, they’re going have to confirm he’s a cop. I’d stop, but I’d need confirmation.

Oh,its not the tan...I was slammed over car fender for simply driving in the "Express Lane" on us 50 near Sedalia years ago, then sit in front seat of squad car,by a "Barney Fife highway patrolman years ago. What did I do? Appeared I was in a ton of trouble. Was respectful and all, didnt help.Thinking back on it ,i probably should have filed a complaint. Not kidding,he was on shoulder,so I moved over to the "Express Lane",he started flying up in a Crown Vic,acting like a "hard boiled bastage...LOL

Thanks driver for your input. I agree with you 100%. Also, an old timer once told me in the 90's when I started driving " kid, keep all your light lens clean, your windows clean and NO TRASH ON THE DASH. I have followed that advice even today and wth my own vehicle. Being humble and non-threatening will go a long way. Lastly, when being stopped have the seatbelt on, as your coming to stop roll down the window and keep both hands on steering wheel after you stop. If stopping at night in addition turn on interior lights and follow instructions

If you think today’s truckers are bad about pretrips, you can rest assured that 99% of cops don’t check anything on their patrol cars. When I started with a sheriff’s dept, one day my ride along had a filthy car in poor condition. Halfway through the shift we heard a pop, and I thought to myself “big surprise there”. Rear ended broke and we had to get towed back to the station. I took good care of my car, and they kept it for a lot longer.
