I don't know if you need a TX CDL before applying, but you would need to get your TX CDL within a short time. I don't recall whether you need to have the TX CDL with their companies prior to applying. I would not want to get a CDL in a state prior to moving or finding work in that state.

Does this mean they don't get tornados and stuff?

From my experience they expect you to transfer your license within the time allowed by law. At least that's how the larger reputable companies operate.

I don't recall hearing about tornado's hitting San Antonio, but they do get a little rain. Houston and the Metroplex (Dallas/Ft. Worth area) do get some tornado's.

From what I'm reading and from my experiences while passing through TX as a driver, the 100+ degree temps, the scorpions, H2S gas and rattlesnakes are of more concern than the tornadoes...although they can have those too! :)

Any part of Texas can get tornadoes, hurricanes and all sorts of weird weather. Most cases are rare but can happen.

midland Tx is pretty much hopping right now, but they will try to screw you on housing prices. Odessa is right next door, but some folks consider it to be not so nice a town. lots of oilfield trucking of every kind, rig moving, pickers, tankers, fracing,, cementing, and every other oilfield service you can imagine. Personally while oil/water is pretty simple and straightforward, there are many other oilfield trucking jobs just as simple that pay better.

I don't get this, talking to a couple companies they said that I needed to have a texas CDL but in order for me to have I have to be a resident but like a lot of other people, I live in another state other than texas, I have everything in that other state (property, cars registered and my home) so I can't just get it transfered.
