If you have a job lined up or know where you want to go, and just need a CDL, I would pay for school. If your not sure, save your money and get it from company training.

Attend a private or community college CDL school that's 160 hr. course minimum.
Get all the endorsements plus TWIC ID Card and passport or passport card. Google for nearest TWIC office. TWIC is needed for entry to sea ports, rail yards, chemical plants, military bases.
Most important endorsements are tanker & hazmat.
Do all this and you can start your career making good money from day one. You will be fully prepared for the better jobs. This can mean the difference in starting your career making $30K without all these or $60K with these.

I'm just about finished with my training at prime. It has been pretty good training. I know some don't like Prime but it is a good fit for me.

That being said if you have the money do it yourself. Don't sign away a year of your life for a "free" CDL.
Good luck to you man. Let us know what you decide and how it's going .

You don't need twic for rails or military bases, not yet anyway. Not bnsf or union pacific rail yards.

That being said twic is super easy to get I applied on a Monday and had the card in hand mailed to my house the same friday

Hello Chinatown, that is a big difference in pay to be sure. What companies would pay that much to a first year driver with those qualifications? Especially in the South East ? Much Obliged !

Tankers pay that much. Line haul such as with Old Dominion. You're in a bad spot living in Miami Beach though.
Which company are you with now....no more FBE?

I've heard Stevens sits a lot. But that's just what I heard, I do not know.
I started with prime with no cdl went through their training and an still here. I'm happy with them so far. I'm not getting rich but I'm making a good enough check to keep me here.
