Thank you sir. We however do regional work. The truck does an average of 460 miles a day 5 days a week. We have done good so far with our first one. Hence. We are getting another. The true test will be the longevity. We hope to get 5 years out of them. Should be able to lower the miles by having 2 so each truck will do less than 100k a year.

As I said, I do really like that motor, esp, weight wise, but for us it's just too a tad small when you hook a trailer to it.
I am looking at 11 liters in our next trucks, big issue with the 9 litres is the maintenance cost, oil changes every 15,000? Vs 50,000 for the 11 litre. we average about 140,000 a year per truck, so it adds up.Ziggy319 Thanks this. -
It's the biggest motor we can get in this truck. I prefer the bigger motors. Not necessary to have they big HP but the bigger motors handle the weight easier and last longer. I don't want to over work the smaller ones. And out 10 car trucks average 85,000 to 90,000 a year.KANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this.

We have had excellent results from our 2007 KW with the Cummins and Allison auto, just turned 500k and so far no major work. The biggest limiting factor on 4 car rollbacks in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area is the 28 foot lower deck to stay at 40 foot bumper to bumper. A 30 footer makes a world of difference but you will get caught and fined eventually.

We do have extra bed locks set back 16" on the frame so we can cheat a little. Lol.

We cheat from time to time as well, just have to be careful what area you are in when doing so. As you know, most of the Thruway is fine but the Mid Hudson Bridge, Newburgh Beacon Bridge, and I-84 in general are risky. Speaking of that risk, the Trooper most notorious for writing over length citations was out in Bath, NY today on I-86/NY-17 and gave my brother a clean inspection in the pouring rain/sleet! I can't believe Gregory S was so nice, it was out of character for him LoL.
Bring that same 4 car to my home state of Pennsylvania and you can be 45 foot no questions asked but don't have a inch of overhang on a high mount trailer over 48 foot.Ziggy319 Thanks this. -
Well if your 4 car has the trailer hitch on the wheel lift. You are now a stinger steared unit. By the word of of the law. Mine has one and I beat the ticket in court

Interesting concept, if you don't mind please pm me the details on that court case, I would love to start using the front overhang allowances afforded to stingers.

There isn't anything I have. The judge dismisssed it. It was a few years ago. Look at the definition in the fmcsa for the stinger steered trucks. It worked for me.

Read the definition it says any vehicle combinations designed specifically....... with a trailer in tow you would be a combenation.
