Would like to hear from some of you reefer haulers and especially those that operate their own authority ...
I have known a few investors the past few years trying to open a cold storage facility in the area, well they had to end up moving the facility to another county.
Long story short the building of the facility has started and they have customers lined up . They came to me a few years ago asking me about driving and we were just waiting on some county commissioner issues ..
OK now, this is what they want from me and I need to give them some numbers...
5 days a week, 3 round trips a day at 40 miles per round trip I will need a 53ft reefer, my own authority, insurances, plates etc. I will be dedicated to them as couldn't really do much else. I have little reefer experience when it comes to insurance and all that stuff. I won't go out and buy a 2015 reefer. I already have my own truck. Would need to get my own authority ..what would I be looking at cost wise ..I also wanna know what would someone with their own reefer/authority/insurance would do this for ..
Interesting situation .

By the way the product is meat, not hanging meat just pallets of meat .I know/think that makes a difference in insurance also...

You should be able to get a good, dependable reefer for 10k. Too much missing info to calculate other cost.

intra/state is all you need if staying in NC only, in GA. only 25$$ per year. with 75,000$ insur. you will not need bobtail with your ath.

Me and my son had a couple trucks,my insurance was 800/mon and his was 1400/mon.
Your biggest cost will be fuel, which you could figure 5 mpg truck and about $6.00/hr on the reefer. -
I done a quote w/progressive as far as my truck and what would be a reefer trailer, but Im not sure of what insurance/types that I would incur on my own authority .
